The topic turned to Soto and how he was terminated. Jeff didn't know he was fired until the member of another band managed by Azoff told him.

Maybe the band didn't know and it was all Azoff.

The band members wouldn't return his calls. Soto called management to see if there was a problem and they told him not to worry, don't believe what he was reading on the net. Jeff prepares to come back to the states and iron out any issues there might be. A third party tells him the news (In the Airport, I think?) , unaware that Jeff didn't know already that he'd been terminated.

I'm not going to get into the ins and outs of why he was fired and why the band didn't do it themselves face to face. I think the biggest issue was that someone not associated with the band told him the news first instead of his employer.

Sort of like when you walk into work and the security guard in the lobby already tells you that you're getting the axe before you even get visited by your boss and given the news officially.

OK, but that still sounds strange, why wouldn't management just tell him? And who told Kevin?

I don't know. I guess it's water under the bridge now. I can't even remember where I heard that Kevin was the guy who broke the news. I do remember something about JSS trying to meet the guys backstage at one of their gigs to say no hard feelings but the band had him denied access. I also saw where Ross Showed up at a TSO show after that and maybe things were ironed out.
Jeff does tour Europe frequently so I'm sure he and Neal's paths will cross somewhere down the road and everything will be aired out once and for all.

to the resident cracker?!?! No way they had JSS blocked from a show ...NO WAY!! They were still
feeling the sting from being blocked from Perry's show ...Cain was, they wouldn't do that!! :?

PM Jeff and ask him to give you the real scoop. It might not have been Kevin for all I know, though it was someone from a group under Azoff's wing.

It was Cronin who broke the news to Jeff over in Europe. How classy of Journey not to have the guts to fire the guy who saved their careers/asses face to face. Cowards, all five of them. Not even a text or call back.

Don't you know by now that there's only ONE? Anyone else in that organization may have input or a say (including Azoff and more importantly John Baruck, who is Journey's manager), but there is only ONE person who makes the final decisions. Anyone else (Ross, Deen, Baruck and yes, even Cain) toes the company line, if that means not returning phone calls or texts or who to hire or fire....Any clues who that one person may be?

I don't know Jeremey. Being around Schon, nd hearing him talk of Azoff was relly surprising. He prised the Hell out of him and when I remarked, "You need to fire that old piece of shit" and Schon came back with "you don't know what he does for us." I got the hint of Azoff being the ultimate deision maker, definitely not Baruck, but yeah, I know Schon has the power. And with that power, he must accept the bad press when the band goes bad, as well as accepting the praise when they get hot. Schon sure proved his manhood when they got caught faking the music. He may come off cool and tough to most of you, but anyone who knows him, and I'm including you here Jeremey, knows he is a real asshole. Perhaps that explains why his peers don't speak too highly of him. Maybe there's a reason Journey gets no respect.

I won't badmouth Neal, I think he's one of the most talented guitarists out there and that's where my relationship with the guy ends. ....Azoff's name brings Journey access. That's what he does for them...Muscle.....Leverage....from a business standpoint. However, when it comes to making decisions, whatever Neal wants is what Neal gets. If he said Journey should come out wearing rainbow suspenders and feather boas, the management people would nod their heads and say "brilliant idea!"

This is a huge difference between Azoff's management and Herbie's management. Herbie was never a yes man....Think about the things Herbie fought for in the band, and consider the success that brought them despite the band (and Schon's) wishes. It wasn't a perfect relationship, but it was perfect for what they needed to be successful at that time.

I think Soto's firing was just realization of a bad hiring decision and not handled properly. As for the rest......nobody in the band has been exactly beyond reproach, including Perry himself.

Jeremey, that's fine you won't badmouth Schon, but I certainly will. I find it awfully peculiar that the pro Schon people here, can conveniently forget bout Tapegate, forgive that sin, and praise everything Schon does, yet bash the living shit out Steve Perry. It's hyporitical. As to your reaon that Schon is a great player, doesn't mean shit to me. He should be good for the money he makes. There are others in music who mke 100 times s much s Schon, yet manage not to be major dickheads. I'm sorry, but once you get a good look at Schon, one gets buyer's remorse. He just isn't a good person frankly. I could care how good a player he is, that isn't the point.

Hey STEVEO777...Soto actuality saved Neal's ass...so instead of firing his ass...via whoever??? maybe he should have said THANK YOU!! He really has never had balls now has he? Maybe that is why he has so many ex-wives???

HE drove Perry into the ground...and well he drove SA into the ground as well...who is next???

You fill in the blank...................................I just don't understand how you defend him???

Hey STEVEO777...Soto actuality saved Neal's ass...so instead of firing his ass...via whoever??? maybe he should have said THANK YOU!! He really has never had balls now has he? Maybe that is why he has so many ex-wives???

HE drove Perry into the ground...and well he drove SA into the ground as well...who is next???

You fill in the blank...................................I just don't understand how you defend him???

Beats me. The Schon lovers obviously haven't a clue to the person Schon is.

I got the hint of Azoff being the ultimate deision maker, definitely not Baruck, but yeah, I know Schon has the power.

So...............you mine as well say it.

Jeremey you are a class act.

Neal is Neal and well I am sure the lead singers..could write a BEST seller.

I think Soto's firing was just realization of a bad hiring decision and not handled properly. As for the rest......nobody in the band has been exactly beyond reproach, including Perry himself.

Where did I defend Schon?

1. I said the firing decision of Soto was not handled properly

2. I basically said none of them are angels, Perry included. That is a fact, not open for debate.

And Deano, STFU and learn how to read before you jump on the bandwagon with Mrs. Loon here.
