I have all ways been more of a DC fan than a Marvel. MArvel has had the better movies, just for the simple fact they are not scared to make a movie, like DC is.

Hofefully that will change, although Jonah Hex sure didn't help them. But Green LAntern is a movie I am looking forward to seeing. Been a lot of talk about his unifrom, pro and cons, I am not a big fan of how it looks, but will wait to see the movie before saying anything really negative about it.
I think they did pick a good actor to play him, alot better than MArvels pick for Captain America.
But I have always liked Green Lantern and the Corps. A group of protectors patrolling the universe.

I fucking can't WAIT for this. I'm a super-hero fanatic and a comic collector (DC) and from the early stages within a years notice, this looks absolutley BADASS. Reynolds is a perfect fit to what Hal Jordan is supposed to portray and has a nice look to him. Weird thing is that the Lantern suite is digitally mastered onto his body within CGI so it looks like Reynolds is not going to have to be dealing with a uncomfortable suite that's going to chaff his ball sack.

For those who don't know of the Green Lantern (s) they are basically a intergalactic "police" force that looks over the galaxy which is divided up in over 3,000 sectors. Hal Jordan is the Lantern in charge of Sector 2814 and is the guardian of Earth's sector. A Green Lantern is apart of a team called the Green Lantern Corps and are searched within worthy contestants by "The Guardians of the Universe" who seek out missionaries who are worthy of a Lantern Ring (which provides a Lantern with their power-set through thought) and people who live in honesty & without fear. Hal Jordan was a test pilot of the second generation following his fathers footsteps and is human when chosen by an alien looking for someone to replace him as a Lantern when Jordan was found. Pretty cool origin and is one of the leading titles in DC comics today.

This is an absolute AWESOME era to be a comic book fan as superhero's are taking over the cinema's.

They are working on A Flash, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Superman and Batman movie for the future titles for around 2012. Marvel just rebooted Spiderman and are on their way of making a huge blockbuster movie starring the Avengers as well as Thor and also Captain America. Going to be SWEET.

Here are a few pics from upcoming projects...

The new THOR -- hope the helmet factors into the film!:

THOR, ODIN & LOKI

CAPTAIN AMERICA movie costume - interesting take on the red stripes but I wish they'd have kept the wings on the helmet, even if just printed on. I have a copy of the Cap film they made in the 90's and I actually enjoyed it for what it was. Still remember seeing the teaser poster with the shield in theaters and was disappointed it went direct to video.

The new CONAN - cool pic but not sure about Jason Momoa, and the Conan purists aren't excited at all. This one may really suck.

This is only a fan-made pic of Reynolds as Green Lantern -- it looks pretty authentic though!

Here's Reynolds in the "real life" version of the costume. :)

Damn cool, I didn't get the chance to see the updates. The casting for Thor is right on the money, but they could of made him into a more powerful looking God than he is looks on surface. His costume is kind of bland and if anything looks like Magneto from the X-men. That hammer looks tiny and barely represents the whole "you are not worthy to hold Thor's mighty Hammer" in a weak sort of way. Early stages though.

I love the entire concept and visual of Captain America. I think that is a perfect way at putting a iconic character like C.A on the big screen. Of course, pitting comic drawn costumes will be tampered with to fit the style of the big screen of reality.

Good to see stills from Green Lantern. The pic where Reynolds is in his leather pilot jacket reeks of Hal Jordan. I'd love to go to my local comic shop and nerd it out and buy all the comics I need to keep up with speed. My geekness is overflowing right now. I even got my girl into comics and superheros, something I thought I could never convert lmao.

Heroes rule! I just bought my wife a pink and black Supergirl logo top and she loves it. If it's of any interest, here's the trailer for the new Green Hornet movie.

I'm worried for the Thor movie. I don't think it's going to come off well. We may have the equivalent of a Superman Returns in Thor.

The Cap costume actually translates better than Thor's. The wings are gone, yes, but that's because the costume is based more on the Ultimates version. It looks better.

I have to say, I was leery of Jason Momoa's casting, but that still is gnarly! As a fan of REH and the Conan character, this may actually be a badass movie. The original Conan The Barbarian with Ahnuld is one of my fave flicks of all time. And it has the privilege of being connected to one of the WORST sequels of ALL time!!!

I was never really into the Conan the Barbarian type thing and probably won't waste a good $8.50 on it, but will check it out once it comes on DVD. Thor on the other hand looks to be badass and highly anticipated. Great for the genre of comic books.

I don't know much about comics, but I prefer DC heroes. My roommates have a couple of Justice League comics that I read when I was bored, so after learning about The Green Lantern, I'll be seeing this movie.

In the early 1970s, John Stewart, an African American unemployed architect, was selected by the Guardians to replace a comatose Guy Gardner as the backup Green Lantern for Jordan. When Jordan resigned from the Corps for an extended period of time, Stewart served as the regular Lantern for that period. Since then, Stewart was in and out of action due to various circumstances, even becoming the first mortal Guardian of the Universe. He also joined and led the Darkstars when the Green Lantern Corps were destroyed by Parallax. After that, he took over being Green Lantern for Kyle Rayner when he left Earth, also taking his place in the JLA. While he was a member in Justice League America he became a close friend of Flash (Wally West), and fell in love with Hawkgirl (Shiera Hall). Now he has begun serving with Jordan as one of his sector's two designated regular-duty Lanterns, designated as Green Lantern 2814.2.

While initially unknown to non-comics readers, his profile has been raised significantly since he was featured as one of the lead characters on the television cartoon Justice League from 2001 until 2004. He continued to appear on the show's 2004-2006 sequel, Justice League Unlimited. As of 2007, John Stewart is prominently featured in DC's monthly comic books Justice League of America and Green Lantern.

I think he isn't the current GL but just one of the backup guys.

I was never a comic book fan, but I did always love superheros, mostly because of the cartoons.

It's been fun to watch these comic book/superhero movies the last 8~10 years, but its very obvious that they are now churning them out mindlessly (Exhibit A: The Fantastic Four movies... god awful). They need to take their time with tehse and develop meaningful plot lines and good themes.

I saw Inception last night and I almost had a boner thinking about what Christopher Nolan has up his sleeve for the third installment in his Batman series....

yeah, I hope that he doesn't screw up the Batman series.
The last one was cool and the first one was brilliant. But the last one with 2 villains was treading close to the last series. The last series tried to put way too many plot lines in. I hope they don't do that with the next one and do a good job.

I dunno... a lot of heroes have many incarnations, for instance Robin and The Flash. I'm sure it has to do with 1) the artists/writers wanting to do the character their way and 2) the publishers wanting a change.

It kind of works for Green Lantern since there's supposed to be a group of Lanterns.

Haha oh yea. Following a comic continuity is like trying to follow Chinese one way streets if you don't really pay attention to every single title known to existence. Comics can change within one scene and completley condrict itself in another and if you miss one single issue of one title, then you will literally miss out on an entire arc and new retconn of what's going on in the comic world. Sometimes, I'd rather take up forensic science than to figure out comic books given all the retellings of origins as well as the uncontrollably new galaxies and characters coming in from one parallel universe to the other, it's just one big, big clusterfuck to understand. Some don't understand it at all.

Hal Jordan is currently thee Green Lantern and will always be refereed to as the Lantern post Crisis. I never read the event, but long and way, way, way confusing story short, Jordan was takin' over by a parasitic alien called Parallax, who was imprisoned and is made of yellow energy, something the Green Lantern rings are vulnerable to.

Parallax was signaled through one of Jordans's and the Lanterns biggest foes, Sinestro. Parallax influenced Jordan and broke him down over time after making Jordan experience self doubt and Jordan finally flipped and went on an uncontrollable murdering spree when his home ground Coast City was destroyed. Out of grief, he snapped. With Parallax now apart of Jordan, Hal went vicious, trying to take out OA (center of our known universe) and murdered members of the Guardians of the Universe. Being an uncontrollable villain who can't be stopped and is as powerful as it gets, Hal continues on his rampage.

The positive aspect of Jordan's personality would resurface occasionally, eventually leading the infected Jordan to use Parallax's powers to reignite the Sun and save the day. After Jordan's sacrifice, his remains and soul was then passed over to the being of the Spectre, who has a deciding factor of death in the DC Universe and acts as a godlike figure that serves under God's message of a place for death. Once Hal's spirit consumed the troubled spirit of the Spectre and became its host, the new Green Lantern chosen was Kyle Rayner, who didn't have the intangibles as Jordan did, but was popular within Lantern fans.

Jordan is eventually resurrected through the Spectre and returns as Hal Jordan and thee Green Lantern. The latest events in the Green Lantern titles saw the rise of the Black Lanterns, entitled Blackest Night, who were dead DC hero's who were brought from the dead by a known entity controlling the death of Bruce Wayne & were troubled souls and unsettled during their time of death and was brought back in a zombie like form controlled by a Black Lantern ring who brought out the upmost evil side of heroes past (Aquaman, Superman of Earth Two, Elongated Man, Hawkman, Firestorm etc.) who gained power by ripping out the hearts of the living and earning each power set of emotion of the time of what that being withheld (fear, heart, passion, love, etc.)

Now with the Blackest Night defeated for now, the ongoing new arc for Green Lantern is called "Brightest Day" in aftermath of Blackest Night.

Crazy.
