Obviously, he couldn't - and shouldn't - play any Journey tunes. But I think it could be a cool way for the band to honor the man who "helped the Journey continue," and it would put Augeri back in front of the very people who love him.

Why would he want to open for the band that damn near ended HIS career.

You're an idiot. They made his career. They resurrected a guy that was working as a Maintenance Manager for The Gap and made him a millionaire several times over. His career had ended until Journey called. I'm not condoning what they did at all, but Steve Augeri owes the Journey hiring team a lot of thanks. Like it or not, his time in the band was basically an uneventful and stagnant 8 years of no CD sales, no media mention and GH tours. Yet they held on to him. Loyal, per usual.

Hey, nobody enjoyed Steve Augeri's time in Journey more than I did, and the 20+ shows I went to proves that. But to say his time in the band was a commercial success in any aspect aside from GH tours would be insane. They went and plucked an obscure singer no one knew of and made him a millionaire when, in all reality, they should have went their separate ways after Arrival flopped. But they didn't, and they deserve some kudos for their (continued) loyalty. As a fan, what he lacked in vocals he made up with class and kindness.

I don't consider Arrival a failure. Maybe not a grand commercial success but it's a great album.

Music is a business and it was a flop. Period. No one gives a fuck about what "you consider."

The music business sucks. The would not know good music if it was played right in front of them. All they care about is lining their pockets and ripping people off.

Arrival may have been a"commerical flop", but artistically it was anything but that. Whish I could remember were I read this or heard this, but Arrival had over 2 million downloads (from p2p) before it was released. Somebody somewhere liked it.

I can't really respond to this, I'm not familiar w/everything that took place during this time, other than what I've read here...I'm just responding to the constant ... Journey giveth and Journey taketh away and everyone should be happy w/what they received while they were working their asses off, too!!
I realize this is a business, but they are also human beings ...it's sad the way things ended!! That's all!!

Amen. And from what I observed, Journey members do appreciate Augeri for what he meant to the continuation of the band. As Jeremey might attest, pictures of Augeri's tenure continue to adorn the walls of the Journey warehouse. I didn't see any of Steve Perry.

It would be a constant reminder of something they can no longer live up to, what was ...what will never be again!!
NOMOTO!! Trying to erase him from their history ...divorce, cracked stones ...great guys ...sad!!
What crossed your mind when you saw this, FM?!? Did it seem normal to you?!? How does that make you

I'm not sure that's the reason there are no pictures of Nostrildamus there. The pictures probably represent the people that have recorded and practiced there. Besides, he probably wouldn't want them up there and they're probably respecting that. And it's NOMOTA.

Dude, I had the same exact thought. It looks like she is being mounted by a 6'5" bouncer from a dingy LA night club.

However, points to her for the white chicletts..

Have you guys ever thought, that maybe nobody cares because there are more people doing it than we know? For instance, how can Bruce still sound so great after all these years? Makes you wonder huh!

Sounds terrible.

NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

No, but I would hate his ass if he did that. But don't worry Steveo, even their backing vocals are 100% LIVE. No chance of lipping there.

Front man has NOTHING to do with singing abilities or his sound. The guy is a crap singer. Always was. He's in the Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, bag of singers (but I like Petty for some reason). Might be a good front man, but when you listen to his albums, you don't get that part of the package. All you hear is that crappy voice.
My "hatred" has nothing to do with it. I don't "hate" the guy. I just think he's a major shi**y vocalist and I've never understood why he's done so well. However, that being said, there is a lot to say for showmanship.

I know you're also a big Bryan Adams fan. Bryan's got a raspy voice, but his pitch is always great, both live and recorded. Bruce, not so much. Listen to the "wooh oohs" he does at the end of Glory Days. Absolutely terrible. Where was autotune when you needed it?

Springsteen is for whatever reason, 10 times the singer live than in studio. Even I am not fond of the studio albums...seriously, I never listen to them, only live boots and cd', which never disappoint.

As for showmanship and frontman stuff, I am convinced if you had two stages, one with Bruce and the other with say, Pineda, that a super majority of people would go to the Springsteen stage, despite the singing differences. That's what I said to all those myopic Pinoys two years ago, when they all said Pineda should have been the one to do the Super Bowl instead of Bruce. Pineda could learn a thing or three from Bruce.
