Haha, don't get MG all riled up...

I never understood about needing to hear it live as a barometer. Who cares if its studio recorded? All that matters is what we hear in our ears....perfection is perfection.

And we all know music is personal perference, anyway.

yeah, this thread died so badly.....2 pages later!!!!!!!! Deano, as far as this being the worst thread ever maybe you should revisit some of those doozies you've put out over the past year alone. Im sure you'll find something equally pungent. arnie boy sucks, as far as a long written out reasoning well I dont have time for that, that list would be too long.

1) SG, I like you Tim, you know that, and I get you dislike Pineda, but there's plenty of ways to say it other than "Arnie Boy sucks." The guy is very green behind the ears, and is frankly not a good front man, but he can sing.

2) Of course Portland has to come with predictable Perry is perfect bullshit. That got old 4 years ago, and frankly, in this very case, I give the nod to Pineda, for he actually sang it live, whereas Espee didn't. Newsflash, Perry wasn't perfect and he did flub up at times too.

3) Since '78. I like this guy. Yeah, a big self embarrassing Pinhead fan, but I guess there are worse things in life to be called. 78 makes good points, but in this thread, the Pinhead nation fulfilled it's reputation as the most annoying on MR, however, the Perry Loons are no better. Like I said '78, you are good poster, buy the Pinhead nation is just some dorky shit IMHO.

Relax Timbo, I get your point. You think Pineda isn't nearly as good as the MR press would have you believe, and I agree. I think Andrew polished his knob way too early throughout the beginning of his career. I will say his myopic fans are much to blame and a huge embarrassment when they compare Pineda to Perry.

Dean I agree with you....I am VERY predictable when it comes to this.

I don't care that AP sang it live.....for me it does nothing. I think the Perry recorded versions of the songs
are untouchable....for what I like. Where did I say Perry has never made a mistake??? I think
he has made plenty of them...trust me. So don't put me in a box....with your descriptions of me and what
I think or don't think.

So pardon me.....I guess I should have kept my posts to myself....but then this board would
get awfully quiet if we all decided not to participate in the hopes of pleasing everyone.

As for your observations of each of us.....I have NEVER said I am not a Loon....so oh well.

Have a good day everyone!

Absolutely, Annie. And I'd like to explain why I think AP's version is awful and yes, I do mean aw~ful.

This particular performance is in Sloooooow Moooooo. This has nothing to do w/AP's
talent or ability, but it is my opinion that the song dragged, lost all emotion and meaning, and as Hoagie Pete
stated earlier, Brooks and Dunn anyone?!?! BTW, Hoagie, for Pete's sake the thought of B&D and WYLAW
never crossed my mind when SP sang this ...but at this country pace, I can most definitely envision it!!
Perhaps it's also the sloooooow pace that causes the formation/pronunciation of some of the words sound
so bad to me ...Been ... by your side ... waiting somewhere, even the
ooooohhh, oooohh, ooooh, is so slooowwww and just sounds ALL wrong to my ears!!

There you have it ... This is my favorite Journey Ballad, one of my favorite
songs of all time, it just has to be right!! Thank you ...

Siily pinheads.

1. I hardly see anyone post videos of Arnel doing the DD anymore, at least here and I for one am tired of them.

2. I posted that video for two reasons, first because certain people on this forum continue to insinuate that Arnel can't sing, which is utterly ridiculous, especially coming from people who tout hillbilly's singing DSB, and I chose it because its a very difficult song to sing, which very few people ("that other guy included") attempt to do live.

3. How come people don't get all up in arms when Jeremey post his covers? Or Bobby? Or the dozens of others that get posted here? People just comment, they like it or not. But geez, let the Journey lead singer sing a Journey song and we get a lecture. As I said above and have said over and over again, I could care less if they ever do the DD again, but don't you think its a bit of a double standard?

I think the point is that Arnel is the lead singer for Journey, does he/his fans want him to make
a name for himself with songs HE originated or do they forever want to see him being compared to SP ...and it's
always going to happen as long as he's singing the songs Perry originated ...it's almost as though noone
cares if he steps out of the shadow by doing his own thing or do his fans really not like his own thing?!?

Perry fans, not Journey fans. So as far as the band is concerned, if I were them I would say fuck you very much for your lack of support "after all these years". The real fans move on with the band and, as evidenced by the concert attendance the last couple years, there are plenty of genuine fans of the band left. Fuck everyone else.

The relatively small handfull of fans that refuse to move on or be supportive of the band, I hope get left far behind when the band does something great. I still believe! Unfortunately, women think with a different side of their brain than men. That is not their fault, but it also makes them inherently prone to living in the past.

You're such a doofus ...have you been to a Journey show as of late?!?!
The entire show IS the past, save a song or three ...that's evidently what
fans want ...the DD, right, the band don't be movin' on the fans don't be movin' on?!?

PS~ a large number of those fans are new ...new fans, who didn't move anywhere but off their couches!!

That was my point Tom. And then of course we had to have the obligatory Perry is perfect post, followed up up by Pineda super stardom bias. It's all so predictable, especially the Perry stuff.

Deano, where does anyone give Arnie Boy the super stardom bias on this board? Seriously.
Some like him. Why is that such a threat to Perry (Augeri, JSS, Rolie, Flieschman) fans? Pretty much everybody here would rather SP was there (with his voice intact), but he ain't. However, the guy that's actually WORKING is decent and in some places excellent. I don't think I've seen anyone here say he's "Better" than Perry. So I'm not understanding the constant exaggerations...

Just keep comparing him to the guy that made the songs famous and you'll never dump that cover singer title for Pineda. News flash for you. No matter how well Arnel sings those songs, they will always belong to the guys who made them famous 25 years ago. No matter how much of a good guy, or humble person Arnel is, unless his fans get behind one of these new songs and start promoting those instead of the dirty dozen or the latest Bryan Adams cover the guy is doing, the guy will be remembered for nothing ten years from now. I mean, are these fans just so embarrased by the quality of newer material that they would rather opt to promote videos of Open Arms vs Where Did I lose Your Love? Keep it up and Pineda's legacy is simply going to be the guy who replaced the guy who stepped in for Augeri.

As I said above and have said over and over again, I could care less if they ever do the DD again, but don't you think its a bit of a double standard?

what, do you discriminate against southern people bud??? Oh, wait, I shouldnt be able to read this board, should I??? How bout I go brush my TOOTH????? You dickhead. How dare you insult me or my "hillbillys"??? Motherfuckers like you talk trash behind a keyboard and then whimper like a little whipped puppy when u visit the south. Fuck you man.

 OK, let me compose myself....

1. My family and Tribe for that matter are from the South.
2. You can read anywhere you want, however, when you post ridiculous statements, you should be expect for people to comment back.
3. We are all "hiding" behind our keyboards, its a message board, however, if I met you in person I would have no problem telling you I think your taste in music is terrible.

You have a nice day too Man

That was my point Tom. And then of course we had to have the obligatory Perry is perfect post, followed up up by Pineda super stardom bias. It's all so predictable, especially the Perry stuff.

I agree....it IS getting old....I don't care anymore....I come here for the social aspect....I stopped caring about Journey in 1996....
