It's more than OK!!ScarabGator wrote:Matt, before you accuse me of pissing on the asian bandwagon maybe you should know one of my best friends, JimRuss is from Thailand and I love him like a brother. Hes my oldest daughters godfather. HEs part of my click. Being from Miami I have lots of nationalities represented in my family, spanish, asian, hell even those crazy ass canadians.
I have never dished on someones origin. But mine gets pissed on all the time. Yes, I may be a redneck but I am one damn proud one. So why is that OK?
ScarabGator wrote:Don, you left a very intelligent response here and it deserves a reply. I was in Journey/Arnels corner at first. Even though I was a fan of Augeri and JSS, I thought Neal Schon knows more than I do about his band. So I heard all the concerts, interviews, CD's, etc. I really believed patience was in order on the diction thing. Well, its no better and then the Super Bowl thing where he looked like he was going into a drug induced frenzy left me speechless, especially when everyone in the room at my Super Bowl party looked at me and said "what the hell is this...this is Journey?????" I was ashamed of what the band has become and embarassed for being such a total Journey fanatic when the rest of my friends are into Avenge Sevenfold, Linkin Park, Lynrd Skynrd or even country acts like Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson or Hank Williams Jr. I felt like the village idiot. Patience left me then and hasnt given me any reason to return. I wanted Journey to be great with Arnel (there, better?) Augeri, or JSS. Even Hugo, Jeremey, or Chalfant. I just wanted the Journey to go on as I knew it. But reality is they are not a great band with Arnel, not even on the level of Foreigner, Styx or REO.
And maybe another part of me is pissed at the JSS thing, or Augeri being thrown under the bus, or that they cannot seem to do anything to entice Steve Perry into a reunion and it finally grew a head.

Yeah, Arnel's inability to curb his accent, even though other artists have done it and his continued riding of the cover band circuit even though he has had time now to break from that and even put out one or two original singles has really pushed me off of the wagon, myself. I see the band content to continue to pretend it's still 1981 and a singer just happy to get a check with no creative fire at all. The lack of preparation for the Superbowl, even though Pineda had to know how much that performance was going to mean to Jon And Neal really tipped the pot as far as my fandom went. I'd say those two guys were more disappointed than all of us fans but they had hitched their wagon to Arnel and have to take the bad with the good. As long as Neal and Jon have licensing rights for most of the catalog, they can live with the amateurism that's going to happen from time time, I guess.

I understand ya on that one. For example, I loooove this duet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpZ9fWvTR80 I like the gal's voice and tone, sings with plenty of feeling, and compliments his voice, but her lack of pronunciation (sometimes not saying the full word) takes a little away from that for me.

californioa is a pretty wonderful place and is a melting pot of cultures. i am sorry you don't see the beauty. we have the redwoods, muir woods, and countless beautiful beaches, mountains, desserts, missions.... california is truly a beautiful state.
as for dean and followers.... come on, you've been here long enough to know we are all of free will and opinion. the "arnie boy" is old, tired, spent. find a new insult.

It's just odd how so many of Perry's biggest defenders are women.
