U2 is beyond talented. Their songwriting for three decades, lyrically and melodywise, producing consistently great songs and a sound only unique to them that so many bands emulate is a testament to that fact. Bono has never claimed to be a great vocalist, but he definitely is a good and soulful singer who plays to his strengths. And The Edge is instrumental to the sound of this band with his minimalistic guitar playing and writing of the melodies. The wall of sound this band creates sonically is what puts them at the upper echelon of bands that few reach. And you only get that if you own most of their albums and know the deep cuts, not just hits on the radio. Plus, this band is flat-out AMAZING in concert.

I'd beg to differ on talent when it comes to Mr. Big and Bon Jovi. Not talking popularity, just strictly talent, member for member. I really like Bon Jovi, but JBJ could only wish to have EM's pipes.

Don't know enough about Bruce or U2 to make any comparisons there. Sorry, I'm a vocals gal.......and Bruce and Bono's pipes do nada for me.

Thanks And I like Danger Danger and lots of other bands too. But I think it's really weird how bands like the GGD's can get so much radio play and have so much popularity still today, as they did back then, and so many other bands struggle. I keep hearing that first single on the mix radio channel here. Bon Jovi, U2 and Bruce can do it too. And it is crazy, but they do have something that appeals to the masses.

Dang, I didn't realize he had so many until I checked Amazon. I see at least 6 titles. Any fan of Norum's playing shouldn't miss Don Dokken's first solo album "Up From The Ashes" as well as Dokken's "Long Way Home".

They headline the amphitheaters! When I saw them last summer, they were at the Hard Rock in Tampa, where Def Lep and U2 and all the bigger bands play. Their openers were Colbie Caillat and Lifehouse, both very current artists and they meshed well together. They are headlining same venue size right now this summer also, headlining, but Im not sure who their openers are. They still have a pretty good following.

Play the fucking Road House? It would take at 2,000 a pop, 410 shows to just fill that 10 day stand. Look, just because an artist has to play big arenas/stadiums isn't their fault. In fact it's quite the opposite. If you have ever seen either Springsteen or U2, they are both so good live, and both very intimate in vast settings.

I have completely done a 180 on this album. At first, only liked specific songs, but not the album as a whole But now I really, really love the whole album. I find it stunning. It's definitely a grower.

It's still 11 song ideas that kinda gestate around for awhile and never get to a chorus. " Magnificent" is the biggest culprit...it builds and builds, and has all the makings of an epic U2 track...you're waiting for the big chorus that's going to take it over the top, and it never happens. That's okay if you're Dream Theater, but U2 is a pop band who's built their whole career out of writing better pop songs than just about anyone, and they've failed pretty miserably here.

Youl sprinkle a few of the songs over past U2 albums and they'd make good album cuts. "Breathe" has a nice energy to it, and "White As Snow" is probably better than "Grace" or "One Step Closer," but it's a record full of passable album cuts, with no singles and no hidden gems like "One Tree Hill" or "Ultraviolet." U2 is my favorite band, I wish I could say this album grew on me, but I actually am more disappointed with it as time goes on, and am trying to resign myself to the possibility that they may be spent as a creative entity.

I've never heard a U2 song that I've liked. Not one. I'd rather eat glass than go to one of their shows. I'd rather skin a bobcat, naked, in a phone booth than listen to them for 2 hours. Small is better!! So fans of U2 and Bruce should hope someday they can do that!! The GGD's played just a handfull of venues in the spring, to warm up for their tour, and they played the hard rock live here in orlando. It's a GA venue, but we got there early enough to be right up front and that is probably the closest to Johnny I will ever be since normally they do play the bigger arena settings It was GREAT!!
