The NFL still has a whole month until week 1, so I'll be expecting my Steelers one by Sept. 12th

Your both Dorks.........didn't you see the Kryptonite?

Fixed.
:D

"Cryptonite" is what Lois Lane uses on Superman. It causes confusion combined with the inability to decipher her thoughts, intentions, or the hidden meaning of anything that comes out of her mouth.

“What would life be without art? Very dull indeed!
For artist create all that surrounds us and our lives, it is the clothes we wear, the furniture we have, the homes and buildings that we dwell in.
They design most every man made thing you use and see.
They create the beauty that we like to encompass us.
They bring the country to the city, and the city to the country.
They stir our five senses and create a sixth.
So when people complain, with great disdain, that art is not important…………..I have to wonder …………….are they ignorant, or just insane? “ – Ginger Grahn

Your welcome. Nothing pisses me off more, than a child who is struggling in his main subjects but does well in art. The parent berates them for not doing their other work, which I can understand, but when the child is proud of his art, and wants their guardian to go see it......... I hear................who cares about how you are doing in art! Art is not going to be of any use to you! Could this child be meant to be an Andy Warhol, or a Leonardo Da Vinci? What if the parent taking pride in their art would encourage them to do better in the other classes? Sad. :(

I agree. I wish I was pushed more to do those kinds of things in school - art, music, etc. Especially music. My parents were not at all encouraging of that kind of thing. I definitely expressed interest in music... but they would have had to rent or buy instruments, so that was OUT. We weren't super well-off by any means, but we certainly could have afforded some extracurricular activities. The most I ever got to do was join Baton Twirling. (and I suuuuucked!!) and even that was a fight, because the baton cost $40.00

What I really wanted to do was piano... but I knew better than to ask for that. :?

Yeah. :? I tried to self-teach when I was about 17. Got me a tiny keyboard and Michael Jackson sheet music book. I can't read music, but I put letters on the keyboard.  Learned to play (one-handed, since I can't comprehend the bass clef) EVH's intro to "Beat It" (have you ever noticed that I air-key that one in the car? LOL) and half assed- learned the intro to "Faithfully".

Guitar's definitely easier than piano to self-teach I think. It reallly is never too late though, and that's what's awesome about playing music. My other activity I was proud of and put a ton of work into was athletic, and that can only go down with age - music skill won't unless I stop practicing.

I think guitar is easier too. My REAL love would be drums. But I'm not coordinated enough to do 4 things at once (no comments from the damn peanut gallery!!). My sister tried drums at one point... she said it's definitely a lot harder than you think... so I'll stick to my incorrect left foot lead bass drum while driving.

About two years ago, I was *this* close to getting me a guitar and taking lessons. Hmm. Might be time to revisit that idea.

  That was AMAZING! Probably never that good.........LOL!
But I would like to do simple songs to sing with......one has to do "Mary had a Little Lamb" before they can play advanced tunes. Once you get to my age, it is an endevor to do all the things you put off in youth. Music like that just inspires me more to try.
