This one isn't bad either... I L'd MAO at this:

Cute but so contrived.

And fake (not sure that's what you meant by contrived) - http://thechive.com/2010/08/11/a-word-f ... 16-photos/

That's what I meant. I did not know though until you posted, that it was a professional hoax. I thought it was something she just did on her own to garner attention. The Board hanging in the air with the thought bubbles really spoiled the game once I saw that. Another give away was the big doe eyes, like some porn stars imitate when they're doing the innocent school girl routine, just a bit too wholesome.

As to the jackass in the airplane story... I'm offended that the story puts him up in aviational lore with Captain Sully. They don't even belong in the same sentence.

I'd have to agree. He didn't do anything gallant.

I think it's all about Slater saying what most people would like to say to their bosses or customers in this day and age. Everyone just wants to keep their jobs and we put up with most things. You keep your head down and just do it. This time someone finally spoke up and said what needed to be said. The chute...well, that's a bit much but it was movie worthy and should get a screen play and make a few people very rich.

You are? There are a lot less deserving people making news every day for idiotic shit. It's easy to find fault fault under the veil of humor this pole smoker's action caused but in no way do I see anything worth getting offended about.

I'm offended by that too.

I just don't see why they would even say a thing like :

[quote]The incident vaulted its 38-year-old protagonist into the pantheon of aviation superstars alongside Captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, the US Airways pilot who put his aircraft down safely on the Hudson River after a flock of birds went into the engines.[/qupte]

He's no superstar and should not be compared to a guy like Sullenberger. Like Rick said... this stunt could have hurt people. The guy is a jackass who snapped because someone didn't apologize for whacking him with their bag? I mean really?

No one of importance is seriously putting him in the same light as Captain Sullenberger. Then again, at the opposite end of the spectrum, no one need assign him a place in aviation infamy a la Capt. van Zanten and his ill fated decision at Tenerife.

Exactly. Everybody has stuff happening to them everyday far worse than that. He needs to grow up & get over himself.
