Line Of Fire's new release Momentum. I give it an A

I'm not a rock writer or music scholar, just a music lover, so this is a fan review but being a big music fan I wanted to take the time to recommend this album as I think it warrants recommending.

If anyone is looking for that classic melodic rock sound that is timeless along with a freshness for today, you will find it in this album. Shawn Pelata, Nikki Dimage and Thomas Clark have obviously, upon listening, studied the formula for making a good melodic rock album and got it right.
Shawn and Nikki's vocals compliment each other and the harmonizing throughout is fantastic. I think Shawn stands on his own vocally but if I would compare I would say that there is a cross of similarity of his voice between the voices of Steve Augeri and Rik Emmett. Shawn also hits a few notes into the stratosphere in a couple songs that would make Steve Perry sit up and notice.

I was going to go song by song and write what I thought of every song but this album is one that blends well from song to song and pulls you in to listen to it as a whole. With that said I will mention some of the stand outs, starting with the opening song, "It Takes Time", a rocker with well written positive lyrics that has that classic sound and one of those stratospheric notes at the end. "Obsession" is another rocker with a classic rock sound, and one that grows in appreciation for, with each subsequent listen. "I'll Be The One Tonight" opens with a Peleta high note and continues with those great harmonies between he and Nikki. This one definitely has a classic 80's sound and this is the one where Shawn's vocals are the most similar to Augeri's. "The Fire Never Dies" is another standout rocker. "In The Stone" is an instant classic for today with an original sounding guitar solo within a guitar solo. "I'm Crying For You" is a great ballad with a nice piano intro and " Ghost In Your Heart" is the stand out ballad on the album lyrically, musically and vocally. The other songs I haven't mentioned are good as well, with the weakest being "Give Me All" but even that tune is still a good solid rock song.

As I've mentioned, this is a cohesive compilation of songs that one will want to listen to in it's entirety. This album will definitely give you that melodic rock fix you've been looking for. An 80's classic vibe fresh for today. This is as top notch an album, written, performed, recorded and packaged as you'll find with any of your favorite melodic rock artists offerings, including the most well known. If you like Journey, Styx, Foreigner, as many of you here do, you will like this. This is one of the few new melodic rock albums that I've heard in recent years that I will be keeping in rotation to revisit often.

You're in the wrong time and place, Neanderthal, and I don't have time to waste on your blithering, nonsensical, babbles for attention, so buzz off, bloodsucker and leave this thread in peace. Shawn and his bandmates deserve the respect that should be afforded for their efforts. They had to endure many struggles to get to this point so please respect that. This is about Line Of Fire, not you or I. I said what I wanted to so I'm outta here again, not because you want me to be but because I'd rather be and have better things to do with my time than to trade barbs with you,... but I do thank you for the compliment of my review. 8) Have a nice day. :P

Thanks. I don't think it's available in stores, only online, but I'm not sure. Shawn Pelata posts here so maybe he will drop in and give the info and links to order it. If he doesn't I think he has links in his sig so just look for previous threads he started that are probably still on this first page of threads or the second.

I was asked by someone if I knew Shawn so I want to add that this review is just an honest opinion of mine about this CD. I don't know any of the band members personally and they don't know me. I've only posted a couple comments about getting the CD and after I got it, on FB to Shawn and posted here on this forum in response to his music a time or two a couple years ago, I think, but thats it and have never even really had a conversation with him at any time. Many assumptions go on here, so I'm just saying this review wasn't written for a friend from a friend and is unbiased and I have nothing at all to gain for saying something positive... I simply like what I hear. What is my opinion worth? Most likely not much if anything..  ...but do yourself a favor and check Line Of Fire out and judge for yourself.

It's one that will grow on you, imo. Is it earth shattering or groundbreaking? Definitely not, in fact as I mentioned above it has a bit of a nod back to old school 80's vibe in some of the songs. Just some fairly simple rock songs, nothing too dramatic, over done or over the top... and most of the songs lyrically are on an uplifting positive note. Nothing over reaching or trying too hard to impress, not pretentious or put on, just pleasantly simplistic and pleasantly appealing for it, mixed with a tried and true rock formula thats just good rock and roll. That's why I like it. My music tastes are wide ranging... in this case I like Momentum for just being good, straight forward, uncomplicated rock music...which quite often are the kind of songs that have the longest life.
