Meat Loaf was in good form last night, rockin' Gibson Amphitheatre here in Universal City, CA. Meat's daughter Pearl was the opening act performing a short set from her album "Little Immaculate White Fox" released earlier this year. Meat seemed far more at ease during this show than in recent years past - belting out the crowd favorites like Bat Out of Hell and Anything for Love seemed to be less of a struggle and his voice was stronger and in better pitch as well. He mentioned at least 3 times that he is 62, or 'sexty-two' as he put it.

Since Meat, like Springsteen, is one of the rare artists these days that performs 100% live, fans often overlook any vocal flaws in favor of the authenticity anyway. It was also great to see Patti Russo back in the show, especially when it comes to Paradise by the Dashboard Light - this time around the sexual innuendoes during Paradise were high with Meat bringing out a huge penis replica gun for the "big surprise" that fired a shot into the audience when Patti touched it in an updated comedic routine. I got a big kick out of the blow-ups making out in the background too for Paradise, LOL. It was a fun show!
