Meat Loaf Was On the Menu Last Night

Postby rockinfayrose » Sat Aug 14, 2010 2:32 pm

Meat Loaf was in good form last night, rockin' Gibson Amphitheatre here in Universal City, CA. Meat's daughter Pearl was the opening act performing a short set from her album "Little Immaculate White Fox" released earlier this year. Meat seemed far more at ease during this show than in recent years past - belting out the crowd favorites like Bat Out of Hell and Anything for Love seemed to be less of a struggle and his voice was stronger and in better pitch as well. He mentioned at least 3 times that he is 62, or 'sexty-two' as he put it. Since Meat, like Springsteen, is one of the rare artists these days that performs 100% live, fans often overlook any vocal flaws in favor of the authenticity anyway. It was also great to see Patti Russo back in the show, especially when it comes to Paradise by the Dashboard Light - this time around the sexual innuendoes during Paradise were high with Meat bringing out a huge penis replica gun for the "big surprise" that fired a shot into the audience when Patti touched it in an updated comedic routine. I got a big kick out of the blow-ups making out in the background too for Paradise, LOL. It was a fun show!

after watching this -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FHM61TcIRg

I never want to hear him "sing" again. Stick with it.It gets progressively more dreadful by the second.
Didn't like the opera woman either.

The shit we get on British telly these days.

I've heard Meat sound much worse than this. His new album, "Hang Cool Teddy Bear", is probably the best thing he's put out since Bat 2. Shame that the US record label didn't give it the support it deserves.

What did you think to the Opera woman in the clip?

She hurt my ears.

Better than "Couldn't Have Said It Better"? Loved that cd. Haven't bought the new one because the initial feedback was that it was kinda wacked out!

Don't own that one, but waaay better than 'Welcome to the Neighborhood.' If you enjoyed Bat 3, you'll find plenty to enjoy on 'Hang Cool'. Yes, some tracks are 'wacked out' or a little contrivedly hip, but many safely follow the Steinman rock opera playbook. Like Loverboy's last album, 'Hang Cool' strikes the right balance between updating an artist's classic sound while satisfying the fanbase. Give it two listens. That's all it took me. Hasn't left my ipod since. OR, just waiit for Drew's review.

What the hell was that   This opera lady trying to sing Bat Out of Hell with Meat is a joke! Meat has had some embarrassing performances I admit, but he was totally on pitch throughout the concert last Thursday - being the fan that I am, I'll take the hits and the misses.
