TIM T-BOWL Unmasked :)

Postby Rip Rokken » Sat Aug 21, 2010 11:07 pm

Wow...

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – There is something hypnotic about Tim Tebow that makes otherwise sensible football people grow weak. He stands poised, shaking hands with palms that could break granite. He smiles, never using first names. It’s always “Mister” and “Ma’am.” It makes them want to believe.

And it lulls them into overlooking the barriers set by those who have evaluated his college game tapes; those who say his style of throwing the ball is too cumbersome to translate to the professional game and find his headfirst plunges into the chests of tacklers as a great way to get hurt rather than a heroic display of manhood.

But the men dazzled by Tebow see what they want – a player so determined to win that he will take a concussion to get a first down – they forget such recklessness has a price.

Here's the rest of the article:

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=l ... erns081910

The dude apparently has way more ego than brains, and the team may need to give him a blanket party next time instead a stupid haircut to bring him down to Earth. If they don't, someone's going to start gunning for him.

"And so a month into his NFL career, before a real game has been played, the worst fears about Tebow have been realized. The things that made him great at Florida won’t work in the NFL."

Gator, it's not too late to escape! You can be deprogrammed if the brainwashing isn't too complete!

See, the deal is, I don't think he's a fake at all. I think he's probably very sincere about his beliefs, and that's to be admired in today's world. I just believe he's seriously self-deluded about his own motivations for doing the things he does. When someone steps back past the words and sees what it is he's doing, he's just attracting attention to himself, not God. That article was right -- if you're going on a mission trip to help circumcise Philippine boys (that's what he was doing), keep it private and don't have a film crew tailing along. He probably deceives himself into thinking he's using his unique visibility to bring attention to his faith, but he's just using his faith to bring attention to himself. Here's another great article about that:

http://www.redandblack.com/2010/02/07/t ... spotlight/

"In his effort to shine light on issues, Tebow simply is shining the light on himself. Quoting Bible verses and boasting about his mission trips to the Philippines shifts the attention to Tebow and feeds his ego. If the message was truly about the issues, Tebow would learn how to step back and let God receive the glory."

Apparently everything he does shines the light on him, including (from what I've read) press conferences where he doesn't even acknowledge the efforts of his teammates. He keeps himself as the subject. Maybe he deceives himself, but lots of people can see right thru all that stuff.

Here's another funny article and I think he's going to be getting more of this in the future if he doesn't crank things down a few notches:

At least he's trying to do GOOD in this screwed up world of ours...

It's better than most people do.

Now...if only he wasn't a former GATOR!!!

Give him a break? Give ME a break.

Seeing this dude smiling and acting like he wants to lube it up with his own lonesome self is tiring and perplexing. People act like his smile cures world hunger or something. Isn't going to change the fact that he's the most over hyped player ever to be hyped and that he's going to get completely broken in half given his football style in the NFL. Hell, he already got his ribs smashed.

I'm sure the dude is a great guy, good for him and I respect a man like him, but at times it's OBVIOUS that it's defined by camera's and it gets annoying. Overexposure just makes a casual fan not stand an athlete. Tebow is too over the top with his religious blabbing and his enormous head for my liking.

Plus, he looks like the dude from avatar.

Oh boy, relax Tomulator. It's all in good fun. He takes up a profession in which criticism is the bound of success. He's going to get criticized, just like we ALL do. Bad/good criticism, it should come in a form of flattery.

But I hold my ground. Blame the media 8)

I hate all celebrity in this day in age. This new generation makes me embarrassed to be apart of. I never watch T.V. The only thing I watch is Sports Center, no joke. With that said, you can't deny that ass on that woman. If she happened to shit herself with the biggest form of Deano-like diarrhea, I'd have no problem sticking my nose right up in there and stealin' a sniff, and then repeat. :P

So, I'm reading possibly the GREATEST wrestling biography written called Lion Heart by Chris Jericho. In Chapter 31, page 230 he explains his experience wrestling in Japan and trying to warm up to living on the streets of Japan by telling everyone he was really into Japan's heavy metal rockband called "Loudness." The following passage instantly made me laugh out loud and I HAD to post this:

Image

It says:

"I wanted to ingratiate to the Japanese people as much as possible so I informed anybody that would listen that I was a huge fan of the Japanese metal band 'Loudness.' But while the Loudness was cool to me, they'd seen better days in their home country. Proclaiming my loyalty to Loudness was like going to the States and saying I was a huge Dokken fan."

LOL! I tried listening to Loudness a few times, but they just didn't grab me. They had former Yngwie Malmsteen singer Mike Vescera onboard at one time. Awesome he mentions Dokken of course!

Now EZO was the greatest Japanese metal band, and I totally loved their albums. Gene Simmons produced at least the first album.

Dude, seriously, what's the deal with this sudden hard on you have for the Tims (Tebow and Gator)?? I'm fairly certain you have never posted anything related to sports except for the two threads you've started about Tebow. It's fairly obvious that you're baiting-and our Gator doesn't take bait.

I don't have anything against either. If someone posted something silly or negative about Don Dokken, I'd get a kick out of it and join in. Not that there's anything remotely silly about Don Dokken.

Hey, to keep this light....

Q. What do Steve Perry and Tim Tebow have in common?

A. They both have an incredibly slow release.
