Scorpions Farewell Tour

Postby Voyager » Mon Aug 16, 2010 4:24 am

There are two more USA shows for the Scorpions Farewell Tour, and they are both in Illinois. I got tickets to see them in Moline, IL this Friday 8/20 with Dokken. I thought I saw someone post here about how great they sounded on this tour, so I jumped online and bought tickets. If you want to catch this show, they still have 4-packs of decent seats for $100.00.

Has anyone seen the Scorpions on this tour?

I saw them the first night they were in the States in NJ. Klaus had a cold and didn't sound great and they shortened the set. That said, he still did his best, and the rest of the band was great as usual. A bit disappointing since it was their last tour to not see Klaus at his best, but still an enjoyable evening.

I saw them in Baltimore at M3 and it was pretty much the same. He commented on being wildly sick and I think NJ was the night before the show I saw.

The Scorpions sounded so good last night in Moline, Illinois that I was wondering if they were using an autotune on Klaus Meine's voice, or possibly even lip synching to pre-recorded vocal tracks. He sounded as good as he did 30 years ago!

If you get a chance to see them tonight in Chicago, go for it! It was an amazing show.

They were good, but Don's voice sounded kind of shredded. They had him turned down low so you could hardly hear his voice. He backed off all the high notes and went an octave lower on a lot of stuff.

The Scorps must have sabotaged his mic and mix. Some headliners can't stand risk of being shown up by the opening band.

I saw them Monday in SLC with Tesla & Jackyl. Fantastic show since I love Tesla too and Jackyl always does a fun show. Scorps really did a great job and I loved the set. I thought Klaus sounded good, but not quite like he did in his prime. I don't think he had help since there were a couple weak notes, but all in all sounding great and best concert I've seen this summer. The guys from Tesla even came out and joined the The Scorps for one song, but I forgot what song it was. :? I did ILAA so got the picture with the band and watched from the front row. How good can it get? :D

They didn't allow any contact with the band during the photos since they said Klaus had come down with an upper respiratory infection earlier in the tour and actually had to cancel one show, so they couldn't risk it.

I can't blame them. The high notes he has to hit would be impssible with even a common cold.

He was so "on" last night it was unbelievable. I went with four friends and they all said the same thing - he sounded as good last night as he did 30 years ago.

Hopefully they will be like The Eagles and do a half dozen more "farewell" tours.

I heard somewhere that this "farewell tour" might be 2-3 years long so hopefully that would mean another US swing. SLC was at the amphitheatre and they had a huge crowd on a Monday night, so the demand is certainly there. Also, I think this was one of the longest concerts I've ever been to. Jackyl started at 6:30 and it was around 11 when the Scorps finished. Talk about getting your money's worth!!
