"Exactly. Now what about Steve Perry? What was it about him that struck a chord with you?

I’ve always identified with male singers who have higher voices. And I wish that Steve Perry would put a new record out. I mean, not that he needs to [laughs]. I would just love to be able to go and see him, somewhere. They don’t get much better than him."

I'll drink to that....lol

They also don't get much worse. The guy has put out exactly nothing in 14 years. And I don't care about background breathing noises or one line David Pack songs.

Nice comparison, Artie. Elvis is dead and so are half of The Beatles. The main difference is that Nostrildamus bailed on a tour for no reason, "thinks about it all the time," does projects with people and then shelves them, and toys with his dwindling fanbase. My guess is that he can not only be honest with his fans, but himself as well. Nobody else does this, Artie, just Steve Perry. And regardless of what the herd of 10-20 or so female fans that saunter around here thinking a feed bag is a fashion accessory say, the guy treats his fans like absolute shit. And he did the same to his bandmates from 1986 to 1998. I'll cite Ross Valory and Steve Smith as references.

Seriously...can you explain one thing? How is it that all of the events that you keep drudging up time and time again – about people that I assume you don't even really know – have soured you so much? Just help me understand why you are so personally affected by it, because you obviously are, and I promise that I won't get in your face again for rehashing the same argument about 20-25 year old circumstances over and over and over again.

Nothing Steve Perry, or any other member of Journey, has ever done has affected me personally. It's a message board, man. I'm simply not gonna sit idly by while people gush about what a wonderful bandmate and fan-friendly artists he is. It's simply not true. Or, more accurately, there's no evidence to support that. Besides, I like getting into it with the Loons. Most of them have touched more cookies than a Keebler Elf.

No idea what kind of bandmate he was, but I can state for a fact that he IS a fan-friendly artist. Not saying he always has been, as I have no idea. And believe me your hate/hard on over Perry or Soto can be just as comical.....you would think they had personally wronged you or stole your first born......by some of your posts. And just for the record I don't even like cookies.

I get so tickled at the ones who supposedly feel Perry cannot sing today, with no proof he cannot, jumping in every Post over him singing, and saying as much. Obsessive much guys? Man crush............total Man crush! Your worse than a loon. Come out of your closets gentlemen! LOL!

I believe he can still sing. Do you go into his shower and know for a fact that he does not sing in his life at all? I don't buy that for a second! A man that sang that good would still love to sing. Even if not for a living.

Do you find it odd that nowhere out on the internet are there any stories about Perry's hip surgery or recovery, and most certainly rehab involved where there is a radical surgery of this nature. None, zip, nada. In other words, the excuse has no validation, other than what was said on BTM.
If this never really happened, worse than bailing on the tour, not performing anymore, etc., was that the fans were told a lie. I hope I'm wrong.

Ugh.....when did you go to Medical School??

A hip replacement is not open heart surgery....and most of the recovery is done on an outpatient basis.

HIPPA is a law that protects patients from their medical records being discussed in a open manner.....so what the patient chooses or not chooses to share with the general public is really up to them.

This place is really starting to crack me up!

Elvis and the Beatles haven't put anything NEW out in 35-40 years...I guess they're shit too.

WTF!

I decided not to post what I posted until I did some more research, so I deleted it, however, in your obsession, I see you were right there to quote me. (speaking of cracking up) Nice catch!

Actually it's the first time I have been here today....just proves I can catch your assine posts at any moment...there

Anywhoooo...glad you decided to do some research....maybe it will keep you busy for awhile.....

If someone decides not to post and deletes it, you are just as assinine to quote it.

You should know how to spell your middle name...I am so sorry for the typo!
Well it was not deleted when I quoted it.....so it's fair game

I believe he can still sing. Do you go into his shower and know for a fact that he does not sing in his life at all? I don't buy that for a second! A man that sang that good would still love to sing. Even if not for a living.

I agree  :D

I hate to say this because I am a HUGE SP fan, but...listen to ANYTHING "The Nose" has sung over the last 15 years or so (not much there I realize). You have to admit he has very very little in terms of power, range, clarity, etc. in his voice. His little "cameo" vocal part on "I Can See It In Your Eyes" recently confirms the same "raspy" almost "laryngitic" sounding tonality that was all over TBF (and to a lesser degree on FTLOSM). No change for the better that I can tell.

He can no longer sing anywhere near his previous ability. Just can't hit the notes.

Very sad indeed.
