Steve Augeri's song "Home Again"...

Postby G.I.Jim » Fri Sep 10, 2010 8:57 am

After listening to the first song off of this upcoming album, I have to say... I really like it! While I REALLY didn't like "Generations", this song could have easily replaced "Butterfly". It has a very similar vibe to it, and I honestly think it's a better song. I feel torn about this song though, because I really wanted to hear a more melodic song with a catchy chorus and some HUGELY stacked backing vocals. That isn't in this song AT ALL. There really is no hook at all to this chorus.

With that said, I have to say that Steve sounds great (with a little help from Pro Tools). I really like the laid-back feel of the song, and it almost sounds like the ending on this song belongs on a Styx album. Pretty damn cool to me, and I'll definitely buy this album!

I think Steve is a great guy, and I think he's been the best frontman that Journey has ever had. BEFORE you go into shock... let me explain! I didn't say the best SINGER, and he didn't have the energy that Jeff had, but overall... I think he was the smoothest frontman they've ever had on stage, and he definitely knew how to work a crowd! He also gave many people (myself included) the first chance to see Journey live. I thank him for that.

With all of that said, what do YOU think about the song? I'm interested to hear your opinions. Just for the sake of this thread, can we PLEASE not discuss the lipping? Yes he did it, but I'm only asking thoughts on this song. Thanks! :D
