I think sometimes we try to do what is best for our pets, and I am sure you only had the best of intentions, Nora, you always strike me as a strong advocate for animals. I do think those fences should come with warnings. As consumers, you don't know it would harm your pet, they make it out like it doesn't. I have a better idea Lora, why don't they make the manufacturers of those wicked devices wear one 24/7 and let them stay in their own yards, so they won't make devices to deceive well meaning pet owners. People are not always aware that some of those things can throw the nervous system of an animal far out of whack.
I personally choose not to have a dog. Not because I don't love them. I do, very much. But I cannot be home very much, I teach, and work late some nights. Someone needs to be home a great deal of the time, or companion pets be around. We have 3 cats. They are company to each other, I don't have to worry about barking, and they are strictly indoors.
I feel for folks who have dogs in the city. It is very hard to keep the neighbors happy, and your dog safe, too.
Nora I am glad he is going to be fine. How scary! And like I said, your not the type that would do something knowingly to harm your pet. Your poor heart must have broken! I would look and see if the fine print had a warning. If it didn't I would call the company and give them a piece of my mind! They should be up front about all risks involved.
He's been reported by our neighbors more times than I can count.
