His stage presence alone is worth it.
Past and present tour. A healthy Steve A. He sounds great here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUKqLc0f ... re=related
Higher Place is a difficult song to sing live so I give Steve A. slack.

Technically his voice sounds like "soft"... he's definitely missing some power.
And that friggin delay is horrible...
if the in-ears aren't working properly (and it appears they were not), and you can't hear your own voice, you'd be surprised how much "volume can't really be that loud" can affect your pitch, etc. It's "easy" to sound good live when you can hear yourself--it can be VERY difficult if you can't. It's the same phenomenon as trying to talk on a phone at a loud event--you sound normal to yourself, but you are screaming at the person on the other end of the phone call. Now, upload it to youtube, and let everyone dissect it!
Also, take youtube audio with a fair amount of salt. Two cameras at two locations can give totally different representations of sound and bass--and vocals are affected a lot. Some camera mics (which are VERY cheap to begin with) are very tinny, which doesn't help the perceived depth of one's voice at all.
Between youtube and the many comments of sound problems, I don't think you can get a correct picture of what the show sounded like unless you were there in person.

Like everyone said, the guy's been to hell and back vocally, emotionally, and professionally, and if he's happy performing and the fans that go to the show are happy seeing him, it's all that matters. I am sure there were some nerves and other emotions too for his return show, and for the new band members too, I would imagine. I will definitely be at his show whenever he's close to my location. Unfortunately, he likely won't ever sound like he did, and to someone else's point, he is older than he was, and has probably lost some range, etc from that, like the best of them. And best of all, there's no "puffy" mic, it's SA live, a solo CD on the way, and that's what a lot of us have been hoping for, right?

Great post. However, I was there and there were times that he sang with power and hit some great high notes. I think all this talk about his range being shot is inaccurate. Was it perfect, no. Was he rusty, yes. Can he improve. I believe he will. As the night went on and the monitors were better he gained some confidence and belted it out more. You just can't say things like he's lost his range and power without actually hearing it live for yourself. Anybody else who went, have any comments on the whole range/power talk?

no one is slaggin Augeri.. just giving opinions of what they hear/see, and most here think of Augeri as one hell of a human being...
If you "could care less"... why bother posting in this thread?...

i was there and i'm not sure it was his range/power or the sound system. i was right in front and i heard him and he had power and range but when i moved to the back for pictures he did seem low in the mix. i know from speaking with the band that they were overwhlemed by the response so imagine how steve felt. there were so many factors going into this show, but as you stated, the fans who went were thrilled and loved every minute of it and that is all that matters.

I blame the quality of the recordings and hope that his other shows this year will have better quality sound and video. I'm not a SA hater, I like the man and really respect him for not being a douche like he could have been after the way Journey treated him. SA is a class act all the way and I wish him well. I will buy his CD and hope to find several gems on it. But for now, I'm not liking what I'm hearing from him in the clips that have been posted. Hopefully somebody out there has a much better clip and we can hear him shine.

WOW, I love it. Very unique and he certainly orchestrated this set around his vocal capability and strengths. Nice vid, good job to Steve A.

He seems pretty good, actually, although it sounds to be in a lower key.
