Today I learned from a source that the Black Eyed Peas will be the musical act that will play at halftime of the 2011 Super Bowl at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas.

Poor Kenny Chesney. Well, the NFL did say they wanted to get away from the dinosaur acts that have become the norm the past few years.

I saw B.E.P. open for U2 at the Rose Bowl last October, they'll be great. Wonder if they'll bring Slash along with them?

They were on top of Billboards Hot 100 chart for 20 consecutive weeks last year, a record. Still a bit relevant at this stage of their career.
15 years as a band is a long time but when you compare it to the other acts that have played halftime over the last few years, it ain't shit.

What a disappointing choice - Black Eyed Peas are ok for the music they offer but have become way over-saturated on awards shows, specials, every new years eve broadcast and on and on...the so-called dinosaur acts are the heart and soul of music. It's just too bad that they are becoming more and more extinct, us having to wait far and in between for the fossils to be dug up :(
