I see it completely opposite. If you are a TRUE fan, you will not follow these covers bands.
Journey is I think a unique exception in that the first three albums are very different to anything since and are mostly unheard of by the general public.
To this day, most people I know still think Infinity was the first album. So, there will be fans who don't really care about the first three albums and are not fans of those "pre-perry" albums
thebook wrote:Interesting comment here, since just about every Journey fan came on-board only when Perry arrived (about 79 out of the 80 million record buyers). So, there will be fans who don't really care about the first three albums and are not fans of those "pre-perry" albums, and most likely think it is not "Journey" which is ironic since it was the first incarnation of the band (hence all the heated battles on Journey internet boards). The first two are pretty good actually, while the the third one is just awful (except for 3 tracks)

If he was not, why would of Neil,Jon& Deen gone out and gotten a clone Steve Perry voice??? So where is Steve Perry now? What does he do? If Journey called would he come back? If he called Journey would they let him back? Is music still in him? Will he ever record or tour again? Is his voice fried? Is he the prick some make him out to be? I would REALLY love to know the answers to these and many many more questions.
One thing I do know is I saw him perform in San Antonio on his Strange Medicine Tour. He didnt play as long as I would of liked, but he sounded GREAT!!!
So whats really up????????????????????????????????????

He could have got his hip fixed and moved on, but he kept everyone waiting, which I see as really letting the guys in the band down and again in his own way trying to control. He said never felt like a member? I guess you can't be a member when you control everything.
2. If Perry wants to record or tour like he said he wanted to, he will. I saw him in '95 and he was GREAT!!!!!! He could have done more solo material ( he only did 6 solo songs). Hopefully he will work again and not become a "Greatest Hits" act, like Journey is fastly becoming.
3. If you are a TRUE Journey fan (or fan of anyone), then you will be a fan no matter what. Any singer or drummer, through bad albums, and you won't go get a beer or take a leak when they play new songs.
Let them grow and express themselves. Why do you think there is Soul Sirkus? Members need to be able to get out new ideas. Arrival was a good CD, but who gave it, or Augeri, a real chance? Journey has had at different times: 7 singers singing lead ( Gregg, Robert, Neal, Perry, Jon, Augeri, Deen), 5 drummers( Prairie, Ansley, Steve, Mike, Deen), 2 bassists( Ross, Randy) and even 2 Guitarists(Neal, George). Guess what? It is all Journey. If the spirit is alive, then the band is alive. Does a sports team stop being that team when they change the QB?
4. Journey kicks ass.

Think you forgot a singer... (JSS)

It's would be Steve Perry, singing "Still Here" in whatever key he is comfortable with. Many have stated that he still has it and the old catalog might be better than ever in a lower key. I wouldn't expect him to tour anyway, so let the old catalog rest in peace. I could care less if he ever sang the old songs again. Been there! Done that!

Hope those birdies don't poo on your car. If they do, make sure you clean it off right away as it can damage the paint.

Makes perfect sense to me. Couple that what Herbie said ("He's gone to all of the best vocal coaches in the world, but there's just nothing left.") and his output over the last 15 years says it all. But you can't tell a bunch of wet-in-the-panties women that and expect them to believe it. I'm just hoping that modern surgery might someday be able to reverse all of the years of negligence he inflicted upon himself. Short of that, he just ain't got it anymore.
