If they're auditioning for the soundtrack to Beverly Hills Cop IV, they nailed it.

Again, this is a MELODIC ROCK site....not one dedicated to the stylings of U2, INXS, Petra, Bruce Springsteen, or Michael Grimm. MELODIC ROCK....MELODIC HARD ROCK...get with the program. And if the Nelson brothers want to sound like John Parr, or Michael Sembello, or even Frank Stallone....they've earned the right!

I agree...This sounds like a song I should have heard 25yrs ago. What's the point? I can see old Nelson fans going gaga over it, but it does absolutely nothing for me.

I would say he needs to release stuff like WET or Chickenfoot....music that takes the genre to a new place...not to a very old tired place that everybody has been to before.

It sounds somewhat dated but nice harmonies. I'm talking about the Nelson Brothers.

I like it, and I've always liked Nelson since that first album. Sounding "dated" or not, I'd rather hear this than the total crap all over radio these days. If what is on the radio is what is supposed to be "modern", I'll take the "dated" any day, lol.

It IS a demo. The album track was completely re-recorded and re-mixed.

Agreed. This is a great tune, and if this is really the demo, I'd love to hear the studio version. Thanks for posting Sean

Very good album... Still like LIFE the best, but this might come in second eventually. The debut was a little cheesy for me..aside from a couple of classics.

LMFAO @ the Beverly Hills Cop IV joke. I'm surprised more than three 40something chicks care about the Nelson bros. Their album cover with the two dogs with blond wigs pretty much summed up what they were and are: a novelty sap-rock act that ran out of gas right after they shifted into third gear.

I can think of a LOT of albums that are worse than FTLOSM. Most of the unreleased stuff from the GH+5 cd would be in that category. Going on a pure track rating basis and average to get a final score, I think FTLOSM is better than the pre-Escape albums, as heretical as that may sound. FTLOSM isn't bad, it's just "average" without a lot of standout tracks. His voice raises the level of most anything a notch or two, but he can only do so much.

As far as FTLOSM vs. Generations, FTLOSM scores better with me. That said, take the best parts of Generations and Red13 and combine them, and that would beat FTLOSM.

Chickenfoot sucks. Most of the songs are barely above the demo stage. Satriani riffing and Hagar shouting about tequila is not a song. Two or three good tracks tops.

I personally don't think WET takes the genre anywhere other than where it has been before. It's done competant (and occasionally great), but nothing earth shattering in the slightest.
