Postby Don » Sat Sep 25, 2010 7:49 am

According to his facebook post, Meat Loaf just finished up with Fox's show and also an encore appearance on Ghost Hunters. With his tour rolling along and tickets for his UK gigs selling well, It's turning into a good year for the man.

How much of that was 'his' decision and direct input, and that of show producers plugging into something they knew would sell?

Glee needs to have Judas Priest on the show so they can sing "You've Got Another Thing Comin'".

Yep, Meat Loaf is cooking this year  Even though I'm not a fan of the show, I look forward to Glee doing the "Time Warp" - Meat's also supposed to be on The Tonight Show on October 7th :D

US record company dropped the ball. Even with Meat compromising and slapping a bat figure and a mock "IV" on the artwork, the album did not get the support it deserved.

Virtually zero US promotion for the album before the tour began...now Meat is booked for The Tonight Show 5 months after the album release and the tour is heading to the UK :?

A reason could be because the well is dry....people have moved on. And Meat ain't what he used to be. Hasn't been in YEARS. Watched Classic Albums the other day on VH1 Classic....his voice is shot. Trying to sing Bat out of Hell, was like listening to a cat get anally raped by a unicorn on LSD....time to move on.....

The sales of Bat 3 would seem to indicate otherwise. THAT album was promoted properly, and the returns reflected that. Even with virtually no publicity, Hang Cool debuted at #27 - numbers that Journey would've killed for only a few years ago.

Initial sales were due to reputation, not quality. That's like saying TBF will do good because ROR did awesome....BAT3 was 4 years ago....and only had TWO, IMHO, good songs on it: Cry Over Me, and What About Love....

"Cry Over Me" is a generic mushy Diane Warren love song. Not even close to being a Bat 3 highlight, of which there were many. Great album. And yes, TBF's sales were partially fueled by the success of past Journey albums, including ROR. That goes without saying. Of course, without proper promotion, it would be a non-starter (like Arrival).

Hang Cool Teddy Bear is great album for the simple reason that it is a creative, interesting concept- folks just dont write creative concept albums anymore

It's actually really good. I saw her open for Heart last weekend. Her husband is Scott Ian, who is also in her band.

Pearl also opened for Meat Loaf in August...she's got a good strong rocker voice, the next Joplin when she sings "Piece of My Heart"

Thanks for the heads-up. Most of his live TV performances leave something to be desired, but I'll tune in.

Bruce Springsteen music is rumored to be featured as well, and Bruce is going to cameo as the uncle of one of the people on the show.

I think he sounds like shit...amazing how studio tricks can help a voice. Just ask Joe Elliott.

Joe Elliott was a stud in the early and mid-80's, and the hardcore DL fans, the only fans that should matter to a group/artist, still enjoy the shows. But he should stop smoking and take his craft a bit more seriously.
