Postby lights1961 » Wed Sep 29, 2010 1:19 am

nominations... just in...

to name a few...

Alice Cooper, Bon Jovi, Beatsie Boys, Chic, Neil Diamond, Donavan, J Geils Band, Donna Summer, LL Cool J and a few others...

Nice that Alice has been nominated... and Neil deserves in for sure...

Almost universal crap. I had heard a rumor Todd Rundgren was to be up for induction this year - what a crock.

I wonder when they are going to realize that people aren't going to have interest in this shit for much longer. The Beastie Boys? Are you fucking serious? LL Cool J? GTFO

I heard the it was between Def Leppard and Bon Jovi for the rock nomination. I like Bon Jovi but I was really pulling for Leppard. I remember when they and AC-DC broke into the top 40, it was the start of something new for a chart that had gotten accustomed to Michael Jackson and New Wave at that time. Oh well.

They've been talking about the Beastie Boys, Donna Summer and Alice Cooper for the last three years. I guess some one told them to shit or get off the pot with these artists.

Oh wow, didn't know that. Lepp definitely should be in there, and certainly way before Bon Jovi :x

Looking at what happened with Kiss, getting in is no sure thing for Jovi. The committee wants to change the waiting time from 25 to 20 years just to skip all the 80s acts and get to the 90s already, they hold them in such disdain.

Journey's name has never even been hiccuped at the table, neither Styx or REO. Out of it's peers, Foreigner's the only one who has even gotten a sniff so far as the rest are considered too soft and closer to England Dan than to Sabbath.
Look for Deep Purple to be a sleeper pick in the next year or two.

Rush and Pat Benatar were brought up but couldn't get enough support yet again to even be nominated.

The reason all of these great artists are being snubbed is because they won't kiss Rolling Stone's ass and to be honest, I respect these artists more because of it.

Banging head repeatedly against the wall....................why? WhY? Are these people deaf and needing hearing aids? Why not Tiny Tim? How about Milly Vannilli? Dwezzil Zappa? Any more untalented dweebs we can add to the list of "Oh my Gosh these people suck?" I vote we all chip in to send them one of those hearing aids that the guy who used to be the 6 million dollar man is hocking. This should be the letter we all send.

Bon Jovi will absolutely get in - cause this is excatly the kind of shit their "organization" loves, therefore they will have been doing the behind the scenes suck ass and $$$$$ payments.....they'll get in - mark my words.

Precisely the very same reason Kiss probably won't ever.

As for LL "Heavy Metal" Cool J - LMAO - the biggest suprise for me is that anyone even cares about this rediculous farce of an institution.

Someone I once read said that the only way KISS will get in, is when Gene Simmons buys the property. And even then, he'll insist that KISS not get in, just to piss everyone off. Then he'll build his own shrine just outside.

I would love to see that.

Why, oh why, do they call it the RnRHoF? Please, call it something else, if it's not going to carry some definition of 'rock-n-roll'. We need a new one, in Memphis...where it belongs!

Never understood why Cleveland got the nod over Memphis for the rock hall especially considering Elvis started rock here and Memphis has a rich heritage of acts who are from here or recorded albums here. Then on the other hand i guess i'm glad in a way Memphis didn't get it because the rock hall doesn't have a clue as far as who they induct.LL cool J??? Madonna? The Fat Boys? induct those over Journey,Deep Purple,Alice Cooper,Judas Priest,Kiss,Styx,Rush, etc.?

Actually, Bill Haley & His Comets are considered the group to have ushered in 'Rock n Roll'....in 1955. Get yer facts straight, son...

And actually if you get right down to it, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Cream, and Kiss are just as removed from Bill Haley than Madonna, Chic, and R.E.M are from the aforementioned....so let's not create a double standard....Rock n Roll is: Buddy Holly, Bill Haley, Big Bopper, Jerry Lee Lewis....etc.

as was Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Big Joe Turner (who did Shake Rattle & Roll before Bill Haley sanitized it for mass consumption), and a few others not mentioned so far.

And I have a feeling that LL Cool J being on a major hit TV series didn't hurt his chances for induction due to the attention it brings the RRHoF, but Donna Summer? I don't mind some disco/pop music, but she had a few cheesy hits in the 70s and they weren't that good to begin with unless you are really into roller skating. :?

So, in other words, the organization loves sell outs. Bon Jovi is the biggest sell out in the industry. I can't fathom how a group like this could snub some of the most influential bands of Rock and Roll history. Bands like Journey, Rush, Kiss, Deep Purple and Styx should have been in ages ago.

Bon Jovi?????????

With all the "Corporate Rock" terms that RS throws around, how are those guys branded as Legit?
Sambora's great, but Jon is one of the WORST lyric writers ever.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

Whoa, hold on a second there... Dweezil Zappa is a monster guitar player. Rock Hall pedigree? No. But he's certainly very talented.

are classic rock guys need to wait a few more years to be in, that way they will actually be honored...look at VH when they were inducted... no one showed up...and it was just stupid...
