new John Farnham album

Postby kgdjpubs » Wed Sep 29, 2010 3:39 am

unfortunately not what most fans are wanting to hear...

was hoping for more this style...
cover of Coldplay's Lost (Live by Demand 2009) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jQGeRakGj4

instead, we get this...
Hit the Road Jack/Fever - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9eYwVp_vaYw
and the somewhat better single 24/7 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eu_EeP-f0Kk

It would appear management wants him to revert to the 70s Johnny Farnham cabaret singer as opposed to the 80s John Farnham pop-rock. Album is supposed to be a mix of covers and some new material, but I'm not keeping hopes for the new stuff very high at all at this point. Great voice, great band, not exactly the preferred style.

I actually wish he would stop rather than produce this rubbish. At least we don't have to suffer Perry singing King Of The Road.

Andrew - Do you think JF's album will sell well in Oz?

Oh, the 50's and over will rush out day 1 and buy a copy, but based on the pap that he has been singing since 1995, I doubt it. The last covers album was shittastic and didn't fare too well.

sometimes, living in Australia has it's advantages. Can we ship you guys some of our acts for an even trade. I'm sure you guys could deal with getting Farnham and Barnes out of the country for a month or so, right?

Most definetly! Australia is the best place in the world! you can get away with anything here, well... at least that's what has been happening for the past 200 years or so.

Anyway, we would be more than happy trade a couple Aussie singers for some USA ones! lord knows we need some talent. Honestly without Farnsy or Barnsy, Mondo Rock, and a couple other good Aussie bands (a handfull) we are pretty ordinary IMO, compared to the UK and USA that is! there are more legends in those countries.

if it's the clip from the Chain Reaction tour video that you are talking about, it's pure magic. I've always said that you don't even attempt that song unless you can do it well. That was simply amazing, and darned if Vanetta didn't almost steal the show.

speaking of live, Farnham is one of the few singers I've ever heard who sound better live than studio. He always tends to kick it up another gear live, and it is always effortless. Simply one of the best live singers ever, and one of the best singers in the world.
