With all the "Corporate Rock" terms that RS throws around, how are those guys branded as Legit?
Sambora's great, but Jon is one of the WORST lyric writers ever.

giving them their due, they did have some very good lyrics on These Days when they tried to branch out beyond the simple pop-rock song. They've generally been operating on cruise control since that album, but they have remained relevant--which many of their peers have not.

I think Bon Jovi got style points for trying something different with Lost Highway. REO, Journey and Foreigner have stayed in their comfort zone with all their releases while Jovi, even if for only one record, went out side the box and actually had success with it.
They still move albums, sell out stadiums and stay relevant with their fans while their peers haven't been so fortunate.

Personally, I think the biggest HOF snub is RUSH. Ged and Alex said on That Metal Show that they don't really care...and that it is a fan-driven endeavor. But deep down, as much as a joke the Hall is, you gotta kinda think musicians DO care....

Rush will be in the next few years. It took a push to get Alice even nominated but it happened. After following a lot of the bands on facebook and getting an idea on what type of things they place emphasis on, I feel pretty confident in saying that for a lot of the them, getting recognized by the Hall is still something they care about.

I mean, what else are you going to hang your hat on? Football has the Super Bowl, Hollywood has the Oscars; most crafts have something to award achievement. For music, it's the Grammy Awards or the HOF. Even if it's warped selection process, I think most musicians would rather have the honor than not.

I don't think so. Fans have nothing to do with it either. It's all suck up and $$ from band/mgmt etc... If it was FAN driven like it should be, then more suitable bands would already be in there.

And many/most artists don't give a flying fox and nor they should. Joke. JJ Cool J, Mydoona etc... WTF!

I meant the disappointment that they are not in the Hall in fan-driven. The Band, seemingly, couldn't care less....

Why is that? Because you're glam keyboard playing, sappy lyrical crap artists aren't in there? Hey isten, it's not how talented you are but how you use that talent. Journey (Classic Years) used it quite well and should be in...however, look at Journey as a whole. Would you nominate them after the buildup of tarnish they threw on the car the last 9 years? Hell no.

Agreed! Rush doesn't have as many female fans as Bon Jovi though, maybe that's the problem?

At least James Hetfield recognizes who's being snubbed.

Alice Cooper deserves induction the most but I have a feeling he won't get it. He isn't the "politically correct" kiss ass like Bon Jovi. Jon Bon Jovi would sell his kids if the nominating committee told him to. I'm truly surprised Metallica made it in already, because they're not "politically correct" kiss asses either

Whoa, hold on a second there... Dweezil Zappa is a monster guitar player. Rock Hall pedigree? No. But he's certainly very talented.

I was just mentioning names of people that never really made it. Dweezil was never on the top nominee list I could think of. No offense made. I am just sick of the nonsense. Chic? Before Journey, Rush, and many others? Please.

Actually, the nomination is more for Chic band member Nile Rogers who is one of the most influential producers in music history. Sheena Easton, Jeff Beck, The Thompson Twins, Mick Jagger, Cyndi Lauper, Howard Jones, Peter Gabriel, Steve Winwood, the list goes on and on with who the guy has had success with.

Good article ...you pretty much covered it!!
Donna Summer desrves to be there as much as some that are
already there, but before many that aren't ...No!!
Bon Jovi, if based on nothing but longevity and huge amounts of success ...they belong!!
Neil Diamond and Alice, oh yes ...I love J Geils, so I'm happy about this ...
Who belongs before whom?!?! It's crazy ...

Yes may have a shot, and Rush, but Tiffany has a better shot at the HoF than Styx, REO or Kansas, because of politics. Especially Styx, because Wenner actively dislikes one of the main band members. So that's that.
