I don't mind when people come and go, but I never did understand the farewell threads. Just PM the people you want to say goodbye to. Creating a thread seems like the person is hinting towards a point or calling someone out (usually the admin, moderator or some troll that has gotten under the person's skin). If that's the case just be straight forward about it, make it a FUCK YOU! thread instead of a GOODBYE! thread.

Just leave normally, and spare the drama. Or don't.

If you really want me to get off on a lecture of quantum physics and personal truths, I could. But this is neither the time nor place and I'm pretty damn sure no one wants that. ...You smartass Canuck.

Nothing against Dan. This place was dead and I came across that quite by accident on Google so I just brought it forward to get the place moving again. Anything to shake up the joint, right.

If he had not said transgender, I would probably never even have bothered but is seemed so funny at that moment.

LOL, makes more sense than what I initially thought it was.......for some reason I thought it was a quote from The Caveman about Iron Maiden?? Duh, not sure where that came from....

And I think people are giving just a dose of tough love, lol. There's a difference, just like there's a difference between making fun in good humor, and publicly chastising someone for either a personal (which should ALWAYS be kept private) or no good reason. I think here, people are just trying to say, "Hey, snap out of it!", lol.

Drama is fun, right? Look at how much action this thread got on an otherwise dead forum.

Drama always divides because you have the "poor Jim" crowd on one side and the "fuck Jim" crowd on the other - LOL!

Jim probably posted it just to see our reaction and liven the forum up.

I still think a lot of the "ghost town" appearance here is kind of an illusion caused by the separation from the Journey forum. I can see the logic behind doing that, but naturally it cut the activity here (and there) down by a good amount. Just seeing the "O.T." threads doesn't look as impressive traffic-wise

There may also be a few others like me who find it easier to keep track of conversations in a single forum, so I stick here pretty much and rarely go down there. If there are any below who also rarely come up here, it starts diluting the interaction between members. That's only my personal opinion and not a criticism at all because it makes sense to keep things separate from a topical or structural point of view. It may be a little tougher to get used to for people who've been around a bit longer.

As for these types of threads, I think we all need a break once in a while. I have a very full, rich life outside the boards. I put in about 130 hours at work the past two weeks, and for a break I'm about to take a long overdue trip to Home Depot to purchase air filters that should have been changed two months ago. See?

I disagree...isn't that surprising?! The forums should be separate. Journey isn't doing anything, and it gets nauseating listening to people post about hearing Journey during montages of certain TV shows, or hearing DSB on an episode of Friday Night Lights...Sometimes you just want intelligent banter. And that seems to be at a premium. If people would get it through their skullcaps that Jouney is done the world would be a better place. There are other, more interesting bands out there if folks would just move outside their lazy-ass comfort zones and look for it....

No, actually I'm with you in the separation aspect - I don't mind having the discussion mixed, but better to keep it separate. I'm only saying that naturally the split made the activity seem sparse, but (for a while anyway), it was mainly due to the division of threads.
