hate to tell you, but Jimi Jamison left Survivor of his own accord. After unceremoniously running off Dave Bickler to get Jamison back in the fold, Frankie Sullivan didn't have much choice if he wanted a band.

Is this a joke? "Neil" Schon didn't ruin Journey. Even with Perry gone, the band served at the whims of Sony A&R guys that wanted Arrival to have ten different Open Arms knock-offs. The new album sounds like Neal is getting his way for the first time since Red 13. Which is either a good thing or a bad thing depending on your opinion.

Saw Kelly with Foreigner a few weeks ago and he kicked major ass live. He is great on their new CD as well, but I was more impressed by him live than any other replacement singer I've heard. He is an excellent front man that can flat out sing. Had the crowd going from the first song on.

My sister was there and made the comment that Journey should have considered him. My reply was that I wasn't sure how he would sound doing their material. Seems to be a perfect fit for Foreigner though. Very impressive.

I don't think Kelly could have ever been a Journey frontman, it's just not his natural range. Not only because of the catalog but for the fact that Kelly is a guy who seems to have band leader potential. Journey's already got two guys running the band, a third wheel might not be wanted at this point. Foreigner has been bouncing around all over local shows the last year and Hansen is just as much at the helm as Mick is, even more so. If you had never heard of Foreigner before, watching an interview, you would assume that Kelly and Mick are co-leaders of the band. I don't think that would fly in the Journey camp, not to mention no rags to riches backstory that could be milked for 3+ years.
Where Kelly really shines is on stage. The guy reminds me of the Rock Stars of Old, his presence is great and he exudes confidence in front of the crowd. Compared to other replacement singers, he is a pro among amateurs.

Yeah, like the opinion of some music critic is going to be valid. The bands she listens to probably don't have a guitarist capable of playing one. In 30-some shows I've never seen a crowd that wasn't into Neal's playing. No guitarist has ever been about playing for the song than Schon. The new solo added to Open Arms last tour certainly added something to a song I was sick to death of hearing live.
