The one thing that keeps standing out of my mind: The vocal layers and harmonies near the final parts of Savatage's "Chance."

Seal. I have always loved the driving bassline and keyboard melody to Killer.

As for musicality, I'm addicted to the Take Cover intro, the louder the better (can't friggin wait to hear that one live someday). Just love the combination of the drums, guitar and bass.......great stuff http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIuicNwYBgA

And Paul's beauuuutiful guitar intro on Just Take Me Heart http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Awmr6NHVXE

And the intro to Aerosmith's Sweet Emotion of course......... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymbNKQWYKRM&feature=fvst

Good stuff! Next to vocals, I seem to be drawn to heavy bass driven songs.

Loooove Marcel's bass line in Talisman's XTC.........especially the intro http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnhtpc1bNSU

LOVE that song, almost fell over last year when TSO broke into it. Hoping they will have it in the set this year too!

Way too many to think of at the moment, but one that immediately comes to mind is Neal's solo in "When I Think Of You". It's not a terribly long solo, but I feel the emotion in every single note. It's one of the few solos that can literally reduce me to tears. And then when Perry comes in with "I tried to forget...." right after, I'm a goner.

Way underrated of a song. And the way it goes into "Easy To Fall". Two songs that tear at the heart back to back.

I have yet to see TSO. The one year we got tickets to a show in Ohio and the weather was too bad to travel. They are here in Indianapolis the weekend after Thanksgiving but we will be visiting my family out of state.

Wow, could be here all day with this one, but a few that stand out:

The opening drum sequence in Pink Floyd's "Time"

The beginning guitar riffs in:

"Waiting For A Friend" by the Stones

"Under The Milky Way" by the Church

"Rocky Mountain Way" by Joe Walsh

The beginning piano/keyboards parts in

"Monkey Man" by the Stones

"Subdivisions" by Rush

Vocals:

Sammy Hagar's "gimme some of that, gimme some of that" in "Poundcake"

Pat Benatar's "So just go away and leave me alone, I can't stand you no more" in "You Better Run"

And any crooning at all by Chris Isaak!

But has it got SOUL, Deb?
You know a song is no good unless it has soul.
