The dude was probably one hit song away from being a janitor. Thank God for Herbie Herbert. At least he didn't thank him by firing him. However, to his credit, he is part of an evergreen song. I've grown to like that song and it's very popular with the younger kids at the neighborhood bar I frequent. Perry is a first tier singer, Martin second tier and Soto third tier.

Wouldn't say he's better than EM, although he's a great singer in his own right too, and I sure wouldn't have minded one bit if they re-united with Richie instead of Paul. Loooove his playing, Paul may be better technically, but Richie is a more feeling player (like Schon) IMO and loved the combo of Eric and Richie's vocals on songs like Shine, Static, Electrified.......damn shame we probably won't hear any of the Richie era tunes on tour.
