Same goes for all re-records with replacement singers, including Foreigner, whom I have thoroughly enjoyed with Kelly Hansen.

Those weren't re-records with Kelly Hansen on Disc 2 of Can't Slow Down. They are updated/remixed versions of the originals with Lou Gramm's vocals. The exception is "Fool For You Anyway" on Disc 1.

No way is the re- recorded version of Only The Young better than the original. Anyone who thinks any of them are better than the originals has major brain damage. I heard them and have no desire to hear them again.

Ditto. Haven't played since I reviewed and won't even play again. Just no need. Much prefer to concentrate on original new material. Same goes for all bands also.

Shows just how long the longevity of re-recordings are.
5 min max.

I can tell you why. Neal wanted every little shred possible of Perry out of the Journey equation. Hence, NAMOTA. By doing the re-records, Neal thought it would somehow make Revelation seem as though it is the original band.lights1961 wrote:Michigan Girl wrote:You're insane, young man ...
LOL, agree 10000%
those re records really do sound AWFUL... but then the original BAR was so high... it begs to reason why journey thought is was a good idea???

It was Walmart that demanded the re-records to even get the deal. They wanted that and maybe 3 or 4 new songs. Journey decided to make the whole album of new songs, and appeased Walmarts demands for the re-records. They didn't spend much time at all on the re-records, so they could put their efforts into the album of new songs.

I'm impressed with your knowledge of why this was done. Now, can you tell us if and when Perry will return?![]()
