Frankies Mysterious Facebook Post

Postby Slander » Tue Oct 19, 2010 12:43 am

I was checking out facebook and saw that Frankie had posted this:

"Today’s the day the “truth” begins to unravel, untangling itself from the chains of the lies and distortions that try and twist it and hold it bound to rewritten ways. History once again prevails, as truth is known…"

Does anybody know what "truth" he is referring to?

This sounds like the culprit of why we're not hearing from the Survivor camp and why there's no new album. Sounds like yet another lawsuit involving who owns the rights to the Survivor name and brand.

It could be an indicator that if he's right, could move things along and get us some new music...

We'll see...

Wow I hadn't thought of that. Let's hope so! We need some new tunes from this talented band!

He DOES NOT need a lawsuit to see that he owns the rights to the name....he owns them outright.....PERIOD....this sounds like it may be a situation with an old band member, but I 99.999% doubt it is what is holding up any album or release....

Jim gave up the rights to the name so I agree Joe. this isn't the problem. But hey that's never stopped sully from suing, afterall never met a lawsuit that he didn't like. Joe...what old band member could possibly have any kind of beef? Most of them have been out of the picture for years now. Is it possible Jim wants a part of the name back? Maybe sullivan and Marc had a falling out? That's a band member and the possible reason for the delay.

Hey Joe,

I wasn't implying at all that any one else has a right to it. I agree with you completely that Frankie is the owner. I was just hoping if this had something to do with the delays that I hope it means getting the album sooner. I'm completely in Camp Frankie!

Just trying to give myself some hope that something is coming soon.

Maybe Frankie's right hand is suing Frankie's left hand for the rights to which actually had the biggest effect on Tiger? The strummer or the chord maker? What you think? I just can't decide....

However, fear not...soon the "truth" shall be unraveled and untangled from all the chains of lies and distortions that have twisted it and hold it bound to rewritten ways and once again history shall prevail and Frankie shall lead the children out of the bounds of Egypt and the slavery that has held God's people in captivity for 100 generations...

Or something like that...

You can joke, but put a beard and 'stache' on him and he kinda looks like Moses...

Although, I don't want to wander today's music for forty years to find the new Survivor album. Be careful, Eyeof, or ye may get a plague of Disney Pop dropped right on your head for such blasphemy!

You know...I have no idea....I will see FS in a few days and hopefully all is well in his world.....JP for sure has enough going on with all his musical endeavours I am sure he wants no part of any legal wrangling....plus he actually has kept really busy since leaving the fold....and has done some quality work like that Mecca album hahahah....but I digress....we can all speculate, but listen, legal stuff always goes on in the msiuc business...in the end it is about the work, and the music...I know FS and JP are VERY passionate about the music they create, JJ I do not know very well but I would assume he is the same as well....

Lets drop this as I doubt it will become public what is going on...and if I find out I am sure not putting it up here!!

Surely we have better things to talk about.....or, I think we do!!

Only bad part is this board sits dormant unless there is some drama going on...

I would think Dave Bickler getting ready to release a new album and doing live shows should generate at least SOME excitement. Wonder if he got any of his range back.

speaking of solo albums, I'm shocked that with the "success" of JJ's solo album that there isn't a followup in the soon-to-be-released pile. You would think they would want to strike while the iron is hot.

You mean the new Dave Bickler album due out Summer of 2010? That would probably generate a lot of excitement, say this wasn't late November...

JV you are right, the bored lies dead until something negative comes up...however, that could be because nothing positive ever comes up either.

I mean we all love to talk Survivor, but how many poles, tournaments and conversations can we have about the finner moments of Frankie's guitar solo on Silver Girl or how well Bickler sounds on "Broken Promises."

Hell, it's not even fun to argue with Slander anymore! and I haven't seen Red in months!

Sad!!!!!!

in the grand scheme of things, I don't think it matters one way or the other whether it is released in July or November or February. The world isn't exactly up in arms for it. Honestly, this board isn't even up in arms for it!

New material is always welcomed, but I'd prefer him to spend a little bit of extra time to make it better than to rush it out there.

It is sad. I have carried the ball one too many times on the board. I'm like a running back who took too many hits. I still admire FS and I love the band but I can't defend silence after a "big announcement." I just don't understand anymore. Maybe there is a good reason not to keep us posted on the "new project" but I like many of you are exhausted.

Come on, I know its hard playing the waiting game but it doesn't mean you can enjoy other great bands. For instance, I'm really liking the band "Sunstorm" right now...

Pretty epic indeed and a great way to hold you over seeing as Survivor is being more secretive than Area 51....lol Anyhow, I did speak to Jimi a few days ago about the rumours of a new lawsuit and he stated "well if it is, it's not with me because I don't have time for those anymore, i'm more concerned about peforming and making the fans happy".

There ya have it folks... and yes it is pretty sad with Slander and Jo Vana who doesn't even know what's going on...

I am glad Jimi Jamison and Jim Peterik have the passion for the fans and work hard to make music that we all love.. Survivor without them isn't Survivor for me . I am also glad that Chris Grove plays with Eddie Money and has added much spark to the band.

If radio in the USA supported all the 80's acts today ,I am sure Frankie would be out there making new music with someone. Survivor never toured enough to garner long time casual fans to hang on and wait and wait . Today you have to give people what they want . Everything is out there for the taking as we all know .

I am proud that Jimi gets a lot of gigs out of the US and works maybe harder than he ever has to tour and give his best .

I tend to agree. But there are always things going on behind the scenes with this group.

That's the problem Andrew.....always going on behind the scenes, nothing ever gets done in view of the fans. All the fans get is a bunch of cryptic comments or false hopes and then it's business as usual. Kinda like when we were all kids.......we were all rock stars in our minds and bedrooms, then when the door opened, we were all back to business as usual. Back to our normal lives

LOVE JLT! The first Sunstorm album is fantastic. How cool would it have been to hear JLT doing Survivor stuff? Wasn't Peterik brougt in to write on Deep Purples Slaves And Masters? The single of that album, King of Dreams, is a little Survivorish!

I still say Strength Over Time is simply one of Peterik's best post-Survivor songs. Not sure how Bickler would fare on that one, but would love to hear JJ have a crack at it.

JLT is good, but also cursed with maybe the most average vocal tone I've ever heard--ie doesn't stand out at all in a crowd. Still interesting to hear his take on Walk On that he co-wrote from Jimmy Barnes' Freight Train Heart album.

Aww yes. Freight Train Heart, the album that should have made Jimmy Barnes a star in the US. Wow some great stuff on that album. Also love guitar work on http://www.youtube.com/user/JamesDixonBarnes! Killer track. Wore this song out when I was a dj. I tried my best to get people to exposed to JB! No luck :( :(

yes, it should have. He should have broken a few years earlier, but I guess the US wasn't ready for Cold Chisel. Either way, Freight Train Heart is a monster cd--and the live cd Barnestorming is even better. I guess hindsight being 20/20, it's obvious that Jimmy Barnes + Journey wasn't exactly the ideal combination, but it sure created some good songs. Too bad he only performs one live show in the US every 20 years--would love to see him.
