Worst post I have ever read on any board.

Words escape me at the moment. Ungrateful bastard.

To think I fought for this country so he can say what it is he said, saddens me, and almost makes me feel that my service was in vain- almost.

Dean...btw, THANK YOU so very much for your service!!!

I appreciate the shit out of our military and ANYONE who serves in ANY capacity.

You're most welcome Tommy. To be honest, I hated Basic Training..man I hated it. It was unforgiving, physical Hell, and I questioned why the Hell I enlisted. However, after you accomplish those 13 weeks(Basic and AIT), you start to feel a sense of accomplishment and you take on pride; as in pride for A) what you accomplished and that of wearing the uniform with "US ARMY" on it, and B) as a representative of the nation. It isn't a matter of expecting to be thanked by your fellow brothers and sisters throughout the country(that happens quite a bit when you walk through an airport in uniform), but it does feel good to know that people realize you did sacrifice...and although I sacrificed my body and brain in the Army, it pales to the real sacrifice made by those who went to war, and didn't come back alive. And one of my main points in my argument against S2M was that it doesn't matter whether or not Bush made a mistake, for he did, or whether or not it was a war for oil or democracy or whatever. It is all about life; a life of a human who for whatever reason, signed up knowing that he or she may be killed in this particular job. But as a soldier, you do as you are told, and these men and women obeyed an order, and they paid the ultimate price. To not pay them the proper respect is just sickening to me.

Great post, too bad you Phyllis-paragraphed it up.

I don't go to the corny (IMO) lengths of doing a canned "thank you for your service" when I see a man or woman in uniform in the airport, but I always make eye contact and nod to them in a way that I think they get the point that I'm admiring/thanking them. Kind of a less is more thing.

This thread is a classic example of the Mob Mentality. On top of that, it is being fanned by pure emotion. Not ONE lick of logic and reason in this entire thread. I wish someone would explain to me exactly what was wrong with what I said. I didn't disparage anyone. I merely stated that *I* didn't think any of these servicemen/women died for me. And by me, I didn't specifically mean ME, personally. Deano, honestly, please put down the 3,000th refill of your perc and vicodin prescriptions and join us in the sober world....Jeremey, simply - fuck you. I couldn't care less about your one writing credit on the supposed platinum Journey album. Good for you, but who cares....and any of you other obtuse jackalopes who emote first then reason later.

I served in the Air Force from 1/13/88 until 11/20/93. Yes, during the Gulf War.

Do not put words in my mouth. Regardless if you don't care for me, hate me, wish I were dead....etc. That's no reason to spin my words into some personal vendetta...

I can see it happening right in this thread. You can't help yourselves. It's actually pretty pathetic. A couple of you who had originally typed supportive words for me, have - in subsequent posts - backtracked to save face once you felt a little heat from the mob....you're kinda like that employee that knows some injustice has been levied against another employee, but won't risk your job to support the co-worker.

It has to be all wine and roses here....When you sign up for membership at MR you are given a FAQ, and a pair of rose-colored glasses. Unless of course your post count dictates that you have carte blanche to run rampant because you, for one reason or another, have ingratiated yourself with management despite your piss-poor personality and attitude. Maybe management thinks you've brought alot of 'traffic' to the site....who knows. Or maybe because you are a big bad marine, and still have that holier than thou attitude. Or maybe, just maybe you used to be in the know about certain band members and hung out with them, and some people benefitted from that and now they are like lemmings, fawning over whatever you say...

And you know, it is quite comical to think for a second that I posted that to garner attention. Previous to that I hadn't viewed or posted here in 5 days....

in conclusion I'd just like to say I have no love for the military as a whole...and that means from a management aspect, not the lower ranks. When we go to 'war' over oil, but totally ignore the atrocities in Darfur. Something's wrong. And by the way, in a point in time where war is sensationalized, and commercialized, i cannot believe a majority of men and women sign up to do good. I'd like to know if the government finances these war video games that kids play....Being a psychology geek, I'm sure that kids are desensitized to killing, and wouldn't think twice about 'getting in there and wasting some towel head'. Even military ads are glorifying the service.....I don't hate the soldiers(for the most part), I hate the system that exploits them....

I don't know about the rest of your post and don't really care, I don't have time to debate anything on the merits right now, but haven't you been posting incessantly in the NFL thread about concussions all week? You can't expect to be taken seriously or expect people to believe you at face value when you exaggerate like this.

i'm not saying you're out looking for attention or not, but you just lose face when you just straight up lie like that.

Hm, http://forums.melodicrock.com/phpBB/vie ... 69#4520769 ... few hours before your first post here.

Must have seen you posting last night, and I didnt' see this thread til this morning. If you want to get technical, you still were here before posting your ill-received post on page 1. here. If you want to play devil's advocate while getting technical, maybe one could infer you weren't getting the attention you desired in the NFL thread so you came here with a post you knew by your own admission would get you a lotta shit.

Like I said, I don't really give a fuck what you think about the military, that's your business. I also don't care about your paranoid MR forum politics conspiracy theories. I can see why people are riled up at you for what you said, and I don't think it has anything to do with post counts (you're no slouch in this department yourself...) or board history but I'm not going to sit here and lecture you about it. Come on dude, you sound like Phyllis (see: my avatar) with that rant above.

Take a close look my friends: This is the definition of OWNING. Not sure why S2M said something about not posting in 5 days or something, but I was just debating with him as early as last night in the NFL thread if I can clarify whatever needs to be clarified. Not sure why things need to be manipulated into things that aren't, but there's a bigger piece to the puzzle in why this thread ended up the way it did.

I see your point. The thing is, S2M is bruised, and for what? I for one am not piling on, just arguing a case against his "logic" that he always seems to carry as his ace in the hole. I don't see anyone really piling on here....he knew what what was coming and he even said as much. Stop digging your grave deeper dude. Man up, admit your elephant mouth wrote a check your hummingbird brain couldn't cash and we'll move on. To keep spinning, and then using diversionary tactics, then going to the "I haven't posted here in 5 days" card, when you posted heavily just last night, makes absolutely zero sense and contains even less logic...

As per usual Deano you are wrong....prior to last night I had not posted in 5 days, that fact is true. My last post was on the 15th, and my next post was last night at 7pm...its quite odd what insignificant fact a poster will choose to harp on, rather than espouse on the topic at hand...SEE YA.

Yeah but they're nitpicking the fact that you said prior to "this" you weren't here. On another note, I never even knew that "find all posts" thing existed for the longest time... what a great feed for stalkers, lol.

Anyhow as for your other post, why stoop to the level I mentioned earlier. Sad. I can just hear the line forming...

Fair enough. Truth be told, I could care less when and how much you posted. I just find it funny that you will "nitpick" my post about the posting, but disregard Matty's post which contained nothing but "when you posted." You sure want me out of this argument, that is obvious.

I just checked my profile, and posts....I did not read, nor post from the 15th til the 20th....that's 5 days.

Thanks Matt, just another example of assuming that I'm lying....you didn't even have the stones to check your facts.

Deano, is this disregarding Matt's post? I didn't think so.....everybody needs to stop blindly following the crowd. This is my last post. I think I've proven my point.

I'm not blindly following the crowd ...I agree w/whom I agree with and vice versa!!!
I don't happen to agree w/you (S&M) on this particular subject. But as B pointed out
earlier, you did make some very valid points.

As someone who has never served for this country, I don't have a clue
as to the thoughts and feelings of those who do. As a person who has the
privilige of living in this country, I have a great deal of respect for the
people who have/will serve, fought and perhaps die/died for me ... whether or not they
felt they were doing so, for me. As a mother, my heart goes out to other
mothers, fathers, families and loved ones who have lost a child or loved one...
or live in constant fear of doing so ...There aren't many things in this life that
I'm afraid of, but losing a child is the ultimate ...I don't know that I could do it.

I like you, Sean ...having met you, I know that you are a warm individual,
sometimes you just don't read that way ...

Again? How dramatic. Jesus, you say that every time, along with the "mob mentality" comment. You post shit you know full well is going to piss people off, and when you catch crap for it, you bitch about "mobs" and say "this is my last post" or "I'm done with this place". I don't know about anyone else but I personally got PM'd "that's my last post" 3 separate times from you during your various scraps with Andrew and others here back a time when I had given you more then the benefit of doubt and thought you were a decent guy and fun to talk to and whatever, despite being warned otherwise.

Look, the pattern is seriously old. Just because people don't agree with you or don't like something you say it's "mob mentality"? What you said was incendiary and you know it. I can only recall one other person here who ever cried victim as much as you and right now you sound exactly like that. However, this is a wall I'm done trying to talk to.

It's been fun dude. Take care.

It's not an insignificant fact, that's the thing. You were making it seem like you're some kind of rare posting, outsider-looking-in type who was crying foul and crying victim at the board's "mob mentality" when in reality, you are a frequent long-time poster who has met many of the posters here in real life (and by all accounts had a good time with them) and is sufficiently familiar with the "online personalities" of those here.

This proves that not only are you not some kind of lone wolf outsider here, but that you also know full well how to push buttons on the board. That's exactly what you did with your first post, and you knew it from the get-go ("I'm gonna catch a lot of shit for this") or whatever it was you prefaced that post with.

Don't piss and moan like your some kind of downtrodden outsider here man. Like I said, it hearkens back to Phyllis.

See that's something I'm happy keeps me from being one of the ms. populars on here, not listening to all the behind-the-scenes gossip and making my own decision like you did too. Hey if you meet someone and decide they're an asshole, totally your right.

+1 Although I've never met ya, you seem like a good dude to me.

I don't believe you posted that for attention like somebody said, I think you just posted your views like any number of other people have done here on MR many times.....as unpopular as that may be. I don't agree with your view and everybody else has a right to disagree too, but name calling is for kids.

One request, I noticed you used the word "emote" in one of your posts in regards to people's rants and name calling.....please, that word should only be used as a verb in context to singing......you made it sound so dirty and ugly.
