Not really pathetic at all. Growing up in Boston means DESPISING the Yankees, whether the Red Sox or good, bad, or ugly! I hate the Yankees and hate their obnoxious fans even more!

Rockindeano wrote:Hell, you only finished 3 games in front of Toronto for fourth place.

For the record, they finished 4 games in front of Toronto. It's almost worth mentioning that the Red Sox finished just 7 games out of first place and won just one game shy of 90 games with a team that was DECIMATED by injuries. Both Kevin Youkilis and Dustin Pedroia (The two best offensive players on the Red Sox) missed most of the season. Not to mention, Victor Martinez missed significant time as well. I am supremely confident if you took the Yankees top two offensive players out of their lineup for most of the season that they wouldn't have sniffed the playoffs!

While the season didn't end the way Red Sox fans wanted it to end, I'm still trying to figure out how the Red Sox won almost 90 games with guys like Darnell McDonald, Daniel Nava, Bill Hall, and Ryan Kalish playing significant roles all season long.

I knew all those facts. I was hoping YOU would gloss over my post and not respond. Portland never could have pulled those facts out of her ass. :) Anyway, IF NYY don't get some new arms next year, they could finish behind TB, BOS and TOR. Something tells me Cashman will open up gthe checkbook and go get a Cliff Lee. Don't be surprised if he does.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh fuck you!!!

and a true fan would never gloss over anything!

You have no idea of my knowledge of the Red Sox.....so pipe down!!! you have no idea what I can pull out of my ass!!

and thanks Mr. Boston!!! :P

Don't be surprised? I assumed the whole world knew Lee was going to the Yankees. It's really not the difficult to figure out where big name free agents in baseball are going. There are really only a handful of teams who can even afford these big contracts and I know for certain that Lee isn't coming to the Red Sox, given they have more pitchers than they know what to do with (even though the only guys on their staff I have any confidence in are Lester and Buchholz). I would be stunned if Lee doesn't end up with the Yankees. If Crawford doesn't end up with the Angels, then he'll end up in NY also. The Yankees are a VERY old team, so I'm quite confident that Cashman is going to have to open the checkbook to get significantly younger. The Rays run is over, as they're going to start losing players, but Toronto and Baltimore will improve, so the Yankees better wake the fuck up.

If they don't get two or even three good arms, you are looking at 4th place. They have CC Fatbathia(good lord he must go 300 bills). After that, they have 87 yr old Andy Pettite, who may retire, Hughes who sucks, AJ Burnett who sucks even more, Jabba Chamberlain who is terrible and Mo in the Pen, who also may retire. The only guy on that staff who did a decent job this year was Kerry Wood, and he was long relief. They are really hurting when it comes to guys on the bump. Sure, they have bats who can score 8 runs a game, but the playoffs just showed us that good pitching beats good hitting. Ask Cincinnati about that.

The REAL story is that the Rangers managed to pull together a season in which their winning percentage didn't fall by half after the All Star break and their pitchers didn't lose all memory of where the strike zone was during the playoffs.

Who cares. They buy players, endlessly. It still doesn't change the fact that they've won fewer championships than the Red Sox have in the past 8 seasons. I never thought I'd live to be able to say that

This is why Yankees fans trail only Philadelphians as the worst non-British Hooligan sport fans in the world.

That must have been Jamison gay lover. That dude is useless. He talked a whole lot of smack during the NBA season last year and interestingly enough, disappeared the way his Cadavers did in the playoffs last season. Charles Barkley said it best on Letterman last night...LaBron James was all Cleveland had. Now that he's gone, their back to accepting the fact that their Cleveland. The only good thing to ever come out of Cleveland is....Let me get back to you on this one.

Listen, anyone (even Matt wouldn't go down that road) who truly believes that Cleveland is a superior sports town to Boston needs to step away from their crack pipe immediately and take a piss test. Cleveland is a better sports town than Miami and Atlanta and that's about it!

Tough for me to argue against that either Don. L.A. has a far too transient population and far too many warm days for sports to ever mean anything there.

I can't believe people are still thinking the NFL might bring a franchise back here. The only professional football team that ever got supported in this city were the Trojans, and even that's done with now that they've been busted down to amateur status.

Two things.

1) LA is a terrible sports town, even though the Dodgers and Angels each draw over 3 million, the Lakers and Kings sellout every game, and USC draws 90,000 per contest. But yes, there is NO passion here at all. Lots of transplants.

2) Philadelphia is a much better sports town than ANYONE, let alone Boston. Go there for a week and see the people live and die for theirt Birds, Phils and Flyers. it's unreal.

People go to sporting events in L.A. to network and to get laid. Show up an hour late for tip off and leave 30 minutes early to hit the club with your new connections.

Right and the Red Sox didn't win anything for 86 freakin' years! What's your point? It's still a beautiful day when the $210 million Yankees puke on their shoes! I can tell you that I had ZERO expectations of the Red Sox this season with both Youkilis, Ellsbury, and Pedroia out for the season. That's three of the top four hitters in the lineup. I suspect most baseball teams won't have a successful season if they lose three of their top four players for the season!

Twins had a great year, even with their injuries...had lots of players and their closer out for the year... still won a division... and spent half the money as the yankees or red sox...

The Twins didn't lose three of the top four hitters in their lineup. Also, they didn't lose their closer. He never pitched a game for them. They went into the season with someone else in that role and traded for Fuentes. Morneau (who is a great player and a huge loss) was the only significant player the Twins played most of the season (exactly half, to be exact) without. Mauer missed 25 games but that's not really news because he misses at least that many EVERY season. As for the money angle, you certainly won't get an argument from me. The Twins always find a way to be competitive with a low payroll.
