I mean we can scour the net for some undetectable back up vocals so and so did on some song years ago or the latest Air Supply cover by Pineda but that's not really as fun as theorizing and prophesizing about the band and it's members.

As we know, that was initiated by Nostrildamus, and I find it hard to believe that he did that to protect the antics of others. And you're right; what the hell else would we talk about? You got any Pineda/Air Supply boots?

Not Air Supply but close enough with the Peter Cetera impersonation (actually there is some Air Supply here also).

Ok.....back to your regularly scheduled slug fest...that was a little too sticky sweet for me!

I still that that^^^^makes it much hard to think of him as the lead singer of Journey.

Fucking Elvis? You make it seem like an insult to sing a song by the single greatest voice ever to be recorded, Elvis Aaron Presley. Nothing wrong with singing covers in concert, in fact, it is pretty fucking cool. I would rather hear an Elvis cover, rather than Stone in Love for the 4,792nd time. It's respect, respect for your peers, respect for your idols, and respect to rock n roll for Perry to sing a Presley song live.

The problem is when you put that photo up against the other rock acts at that time. Look at Bon Jovi, Poison, Def Leppard, Aerosmith, etc. All were rocking the long hair and jeans, where as Journey looked like they raided Barry Manilow's wardrobe or were looking to score some tunes on St. Elmo's Fire.

Agreed.

I have seen covers in concerts and they don't bother me....and if you are going to cover someone the king of rock n roll is as
good as anyone.

I was more referring to AP out doing all of these concerts that are all covers....I just could never see it happening back in the day.

True...it was not the best idea if you are a rock band...but there are some pictures of Jon and Kip that can give that a run for it's money.

You'd have a point if we were talking about Mr fucking Big, but Journey was the biggest band in the world and people wanted to hear Journey songs!!!

And that is a fact. I would rank Perry higher as a vocalist than Journey as a band. And Presley is in a class
by himself.

Cyndy and I were at that ROR photo shoot. It was at the Fog City Diner in SF. See that clock at the top? It shows 2 o'clock. It was 2:00 AM. And it was freakin freezing.

Again, majorly big, but never the biggest. There was always someone who was a bit bigger during the 80's, be it REO Hi Infidelity in '81, Springsteen and Born in the USA in '84, Bon Jovi's Slippery When Wet in '85 or Def Lippard with whatever the Hell they had going. Not putting your guys down Daniel, but they were never quite Kings...but they were close.

Couldn't Cain find some nice shoes for the shoot? Hell, he might as well had on sneakers for shit's sake. They stick out like a sore thumb.

Sure they did. Go watch the IBAWY video, and you'll see Perry in a nice jacket with the hairdo going on....same with Midge..he was tooling around in a leather jacket. Meanwhile, The Frig was sporting the same hairdresser smock that he always had.

Saint John wrote:Then he toured without Journey ... cracking the stone ... but said to Journey in 1998 "Don't tour as Journey and crack the stone." I guess he meant because he already did.

Ohhhhh, how I hate the line about Perry cracking the stone first, I seem to recall that J & N went out and got another band called Bad English, with 3/5 of the current lineup of Journey. SS was out doing his thing with his own band and other groups and let's not forget that he along with RV, GR went out got a sound Perry sound alike in KC for a band called The Storm (3/5 again).

All in all Perry did not crack the stone by going out and making a solo album followed by a solo tour. He did not crack the stone that was "Journey" plain and simple. The "Journey" stone that was cracked was when Perry was forced out and by accounts from JC and NS, Perry could have made it a living hell for them to go out and tour/record with the Journey name. Perry did get some concessions as any good business person would do, you know that you would too. Seriously let's get off of the whole Perry cracked the stone first crap and look at the facts.

Except for two people in the band pre-1986 (RV & SS) I've heard some horror stories about all of the rest as far as being butt wipes.
