It's Brywool's birthday!

Postby Rick » Fri Oct 29, 2010 9:07 am

I know I'm not supposed to start a birthday thread for another guy, if at all, but I've been out of town, and you people have dropped the ball.

Cool dude. Normally I don't participate in these gay threads, but I'll be gay just for today (in a non-contact way! ). Happy Birfday. :)

Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

dang-- BEATLE CAKES??!!? Where the heck do you guys shop??

I don't share a lot of my personal stuff here, but you guys are very cool, so...

I had a good birthday, but also a sad one.

I had to play that night in a club down the street and 2 hours before I got there, I got word
that my brother had died of cancer. It seemed he was going to be around a few more years and I'd seen
him that week and he seemed to be holding his own, but his body just gave up. You kind of knew it was coming, but it was just sad and sooner than we I expected.

So I was feeling horrible, but I had to play a gig that night. It's just the way things go if you're in a band, even a local one. I remember that the day after my dad died, I had to play a big outdoor festival show in Seattle. The night my mom died, I was playing a casino gig, so it apparently goes with the territory.

I walked in and saw all these people-- and it turned out to be a surprise bday party for me. I had absolutely no idea as my birthday was actually during the next week. I had only just phoned my wife to tell her the news and she must've been there at the club setting up. She must've thought "Oh... fu**!".
Weird....

There were a bunch of friends there and that really helped me get through the night. My wife got me this KILLER Rickenbacker bass for a bday gift and gave it to me at the club. I've started playing bass in a Styx tribute band (playing bass and singing the DeYoung parts) along with my other normal Dance band and also a Wings Tribute (playing guitar and singing). So I've been super busy.

Enough about me, but thanks you guys for remembering me. I always think that I don't matter to most folks (hey Toph! ;) )- so it's nice to see some friends being cool.

Thanks, it's been a rough week!
