Let's see... how did a thread on JC turned into a pissing match between fans of SP and AP????

Just 2 things I want to respond to Chubby on:

There is no conflict between SP's loyalty...rooting for White Sox and Giants...because they play in different leagues. It's like me rooting for both the Giants and the A's. The only time there is a conflict is when the N.L. champ play the A.L. champ in the World Series...and these 2 teams were lucky enough to make it there...like in 1989.

As for SP "copying" RF....ridiculous statement, sorry. Steve does not(did not) ever sound like Robert...2 totally different singers, imo. I think RF was influenced by Robert Plante, and SP was, of course, Sam Cooke.

Yeah I've been waiting for the day, to see Chubby piss Rockindeano off! looks like it finally happened, what took you so long?.

Dean mate, you know better than that! mate some people don't have the mental capacity to think logically like us. Would you argue with somebody who just had a piece of their brain cut out? sure you could try, but when something is missing, it's kind of like reading a book in the dark.

I am not seeing how the two equate. One instance is a statemtent about how Perry may not truely be a fan of either team since he was there in a "fan" capacity. While the other is a request to perform at WS game.

Now if you are claiming that Steve Perry was requested to perform at these games and what he did there was perform, well I guess that would be a different discussion. Is that what you are getting at?

When is the last time Neal has ever showed an interest at playing anything for the Giants? Yet a few days after Perry is filmed, Neal suddenly has his "fingers crossed" that he will be invited to play ATB at one of the games during the series.
Now, all of a sudden Neal wants to perform before the home crowd?
That seems cheesy to me, as in "My ex-singer seems to be getting a little publicity from this, maybe I can get some free pub too."

I'm commenting on the cheese factor not what the equation is.

In a hurry so will just quote myself from the Neal on FB post:

"Am I missing something here?

Pineda is in the band b/c he can insultingly "ape" Perry, having not created Squat, diving from the drumset to the beat of someone else's music, and traveling around on a karaoke tour copying as many artistS as possible, yet you have issues with Perry, creator/co-creator, choosing baseball "teamS"?

"Bottom line" he helped build the band and he was/is entitled to his feelings. They "made 4 albums", but what do they have to play? Maybe one day the band will write Pineda some hits and he will have his own "30 year" old songs to sing. Then Neal won't have to "swipe" at Perry in fear of his taking the spotlight from them." Author2 11/07/2010

Chubby321 wrote:I have no problem with his feelings. He’s free to feel anything.  I am just baffled that he couldn’t stick to one baseball team to root. Many celebrities are very loyal and you don’t really see them hopping from one baseball team to another. It seems like he has a little problem with loyalty, that’s just my opinion and I am entitled to it.

Don't believe you're "baffled" for it seems you just want to find any little senseless thing to try to demean Perry. But I'm "baffled" that Arnel and his fans don't seem know what "loyalty" is. He calls Perry his idol then he insultingly and disrespectfully copy/mock him "note for note" on his hardwork. Most artists are very "loyal" to artistic integrity and "you don't really see them hopping" around the country always copying the hardwork of others when they haven't created SQUAT of their own. They seem to have a sense of dignity and self-respect for themselves and the music.

Okay, let's give him the rerecords. And if that's not enough he felt the need to sing Perry's entry song "Patiently" and his exit song "WCTNGOF", never seeming to have the desire to try s/thing of his own. Maybe he should keep these word to himself "occupy the place of Steve Perry." I believe I read that Sammy Hagar replacing DLR stated that he wanted to create his own....

Chubby321 wrote:AP is not your typical frontman and his fans don’t have any problem with him traveling around singing covers because he is doing it for a good cause.

True, always copying the hardwork of others in the name of charity? Guess he's not picking up paychecks, huh? Your modern day Robin Hood, "steal from the rich and give the poor"?

Chubby321 wrote:All I know is, AP fans are having a wonderful time and we support AP wholeheartedly, with or without Journey.

"All I know is" Steve Perry, a great Vocal and CREATIVE talent whom I respect immensely "with or without Journey," contributed HUGELY to Journey and the replacements have had to copy him and the work he did. AP's fans don't seem to get that. Wish I'd had the opportunity to see Perry, but I did rush to see your guy.

"That's my opinion and I'm entitled to it."

Have a Great day!

Chubby321 wrote:You are barking on the wrong tree. Although many here demean and insult Arnel as a past time, if you look at my all my posts, you will see that I refrain from doing that. You’ve been here a long time and you should know that by now.

See your post above. Perry often gets the same "past time" demeanor.

Chubby321 wrote:With your rationale, cover bands in your eyes are insulting and disrespectful. Jeremy might beg to differ. Do you consider SP as disrespectful to Fleischman? And by the way, SP sounding so much like Fleischman is being hailed here as an “influence” but AP sounding like SP is considered as “mocking”.

No issue with cover bands for they sing others songs, but AP is in Journey now. Is Journey a cover band? Jeremy is in a cover/tribute band plus he has writing CREDITS on Revelation and AP does not. Are you delirious - SP sounds NOTHING like Fleischman and he was never paid to copy/mock him "note for note" plus SP wrote/co-wrote the songs on his very FIRST album. Am I missing something here?

Chubby321 wrote:AP was hired and only took the job because it’s a chance of a lifetime and a way to provide his family with a better life. And those were the main reasons. It’s not about SP, never about SP.

Okay, just thought he would respect any artist, esp. Plant and Perry since I read he referred to them as his #1 and #2 idols. Like I said, I, begrudginly, give him the rerecords for he probably did what he had to do at that TIME.

Chubby321 wrote:"steal from the rich and give the poor"?
That says a lot about you as a person than anything else. I hope you did not really mean to say that. AP’s team goes to the remote areas in the Philippines to provide people with medical care, food and clothing. You see it as “stealing”, I see it as “compassion” A person with a good heart. And AP fans are very much willing to donate anything, be it time, money, goods or service.

I meant it. Still see it as always copying the hard-work of others in the name of charity. Maybe he can knock off a couple of banks, afterall, it is for a "good cause." Would think many artist, not in cover/tribute bands, probably contribute from earnings.

Chubby321 wrote:In spite of the distaste for AP, the never ending name calling, mocking and insults, AP is quietly winning the battle. Last time I checked, Journey headlined and will be headlining concerts with AP at the helm.

"In spite of" your insulting disrespect for Perry, he's a HUGE reason Journey is going today. Perry already won "the battle" and he did not have to copy "note for note" and sing someone else's songs and he wrote/co-wrote, as soon as he stepped into Journey. He was truly "at the helm" in all respects, not just a mouthpiece. "Last time I checked" Cain said "probably at Walmart" Seems they have put up a tent in the parking lot of Wally's and not even sure about that. Over 25 years later, Sony is still distributing the "GH" for posterity.

You started it - "Go White Sox....go Giants" "problem with loyalty." People that live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones (they might get returned.)

Have a Great day!

I like the Raiders, too, but my heart is with the 49ers. I also follow the Warriors and Sharks...because they are "Bay Area" teams. But curses to all So. Cal teams.

Shamu here is right. Rooting for two teams like that is not cool. I had a friend in my class who was a Arsenal fan (english soccer team). One day he came into class with a fucking Chelsea shirt. I never spoke to the faggot again.

Rooting for two teams is how the girls do it. And everyone knows girls and sports don't mix.

No C, he is actually right on this. of course there is an exception to every rule, you are one of the exceptions, but most girls root for a team because of the color of the uniform, and when that team loses, they cling onto another. I have seen it first hand a million times.

Dude, check yourself. There are a ton of women athletes who can smoke dudes in sports. Ever heard of Lindsay Vonn? How about Annika Sorenstam? Oh and your baseball smack- go Google Jenny Finch and check out how fast she throws a fuckin softball....she would blow you away in three pitches. However, she is so damned hot, I don't think I could concentrate on the damned ball. I would want to charge the mound, and have animalistic sex with her.

No C, he is actually right on this. of course there is an exception to every rule, you are one of the exceptions, but most girls root for a team because of the color of the uniform, and when that team loses, they cling onto another. I have seen it first hand a million times.

I have never known a single female who has changed
her color/s for the sake of a win. :? Oh, and girls and sports don't mix ...put a bat in his sterile little
lifesaving hands and let me kick his ass all the way home ...and when I'm done, I'll do
a little cheer for myself!!

You're a great woman, and I bet you can do some kickass stain removal, but when it comes to sports, then there's no doubt about it: there's not one single sport a woman is better in than a man. I've never played baseball in my life, but I would easily beat you.

Tough love! Now go make me a sandwich
lol ..I'll be glad to remove the blood from your shirt after I kick your ass!!
You make me a sandwich, I'm hungry for tuna!!

There's a reason why all types of sports are separated by sex; if not, then the men would crush the women. A male athlete (ski jumper, golfer, soccer player, 100 m runner, whatever) will always be superior to his female counterpart.
