Unreleased albums from the 80's and 90's...

Postby G.I.Jim » Sun Nov 21, 2010 1:02 pm

I've just been sitting here thinking about this tonight, and I wonder... Chicago just released "Stone of Sisyphus" last year, which they recorded (I think in '94). Mr Mister is getting ready to release "Pull" which they recorded in '89, and it was never released. Bad English recorded "The Lost Tapes (unofficial title)", and it's never been released. Many of these bands had entire albums recorded in the late 80's/early 90's, and the record labels dropped them like they were hot potatoes so that they could sign grunge acts.

It just makes me wonder how many other albums were shelved after they were recorded, that we've never even heard? Anyone know of any others?

Never been a big Danger Danger fan with the exception of 1 song (can't recall the title). Alias was an awesome band. Did they ever release that album? I don't own any of theirs, so I don't know their catalog.

I need to pick up some Alias albums. I seem to remember the "Wicked Lester" album. I'll have to check it out on Youtube. Thanks!

There's only 2 Alias albums as is. The self-titled debut, and the Never Say Never unreleased-until-recently album. Also the Freddy Curci solo album Dreamer's Road from 1994ish, which is a bit lighter, but had some of the songs from the then-unreleased Alias album re-recorded.

considering the band broke up before the 2nd album was even released, I doubt the Lost Tapes was even designated as an album. Probably more a collection of BE demos and John Waite solo demos.

The couple more I can think of are...

Steve Perry - Against the Wall -- have we heard all the songs from this yet? No surprise it wasn't released, however.
The View (mid 80s Kevin Chalfant prior to The Storm) .... later released as The VU.

Hey S2M, check this out... It's a newer Aldo Nova song that I've never heard. Don't know if you're a fan or not, but this one sounds good!

I would love to hear the Boston stuff, especially if Delp's vocals are on it.

The one unreleased album that sparks my interest is Lita Ford "The Bride Wore Black." This was to be her third album on her first record label, but she was dropped and the album was shelved.

Seal - Togetherland. It was 99 I think it was written, for release in early 2000s, I think. Togetherland was done but was scratched by Seal, so he said. Other remarks are the label didn't like it, wanted something more commercial since Human Being, his last album, underperformed. So he reunited with Trevor Horn and put out Seal IV, which I adore. But they keep Togetherland under lock and key. Too bad because the intro samples of all the songs I love. I doubt it will ever see the light of day or be leaked.

Sample of all the songs off the album: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mx52K_0zuS0

Ahh, the purported "Son Of Edge." Glen and Dennis did "All For Love" in concert, which was an unreleased song that was to be on that album before they got dropped by A&M. Other songs were re-worked and used later either by Dennis or Glen :?
