Miami - Sports HELL of the Universe!

I'm not sure that you'll ever need more evidence of what an abortion of a sports town that Miami is. I know that Gator will be in here momentarily to tell me that it's the greatest sports town on the planet, but anyone with brain cells connected knows better! This is fucking embarrassing. An NBA team with the most stacked lineup EVER assembled actually has to beg and plead on their website for fans to dial into what's going on and then bribe them with "goodies" if they cooperate? Thank god I wasn't born and raised in this sports purgatory!

)

add to that the Dolphins (Old Housewives Club - at least that is how they play - they don't even have a functioning quarterback right now) - the Marlins (been dead since everyone was sent packing the day after they won the World Series) - and don't forget the Miami Hurricanes football where everyone is calling for the coach's head.

Oh and we cannot forget the fiasco of the Panthers hockey team - they come out with a winning season and are immediately moved to Ft. Lauderdale.

Miami sucks.

I wake up in it everyday.

As a born and bred Miamian I understand the sports support isnt what it should be but cmon....South beach, Coconut Grove, Key Biscayne...even if I still lived there and had the choice to go to a Heat game or hang out at the beach with some gorgeous latina hotties where the hell you think Im gonna be??? And I am a TRUE sports fan. Seriously, family of mine still there said more people than you think were actually turned off by Lebron and the way he treated Cleveland. I found it a bit repulsive myself. Not to mention that you have to take out a second mortgage to buy decent seats at those games. When the Dolphins are giving a quality product the support is there but they are as boring watching as 2 flys fucking. Sure, I'll throw $75 down to watch a team kick field goals, shit.
Who cares about the Canes, they can suck my Gator ass. Miami is loaded with UF people that travel every week to Gainesville and bud, that is quite a drive. Fuck the Marlins Im a Braves fan.
As a city though, I love the place...it made me the country bumpkin I am today.

That is funny and true. As a REAL Floridian, born & raised (Yes, I know, we are a dying breed) I have grown up in misery with the Dolphins. It's total hell, but I'm so damn use to it it doesn't even phase me. Miami will only support a team if they are winning, the evidence is when you happen to watch a marlin or Cane game on national TV and less than 15,000 are there, and thats a good day for both of them. Like Scarab though, I'm a Gator grad. Also, I ABSOLUTELY love it when the Heat lose. I cannot stand teams that try to buy a championship and besides, I'm a Magic fan. One thing I disagree with Scarab on when it comes to Miami is the latins. Thats what is wrong with the city now.

I can think of 5 teams in my lifetime that are definitely better than the Heat, and maybe as many as 10. But I completely agree with the rest.

Come on Danny Boy. You have better reading skills than that. Take a look at what you highlighted in my post and then read your response. I never claimed that they were close to the best. I merely said that it's the "most stacked" team ever assembled (on paper, that is). Luckily, games aren't won on paper. There is a huge difference between being a "stacked" team and being the "best" or "better". I still think the Heat will eventually win but I think they made a huge mistake by putting too many players together with the same skill set.

Daggum, if you "Fan Up" and show up on time, you get a hot dog, chips and soda combo for only $11! That's close to a 15% savings! Who needs to wait in line on Black Friday when you could get this kind of royal treatment?

I'm not even going to give them the "on paper" argument. Bosh is vastly overrated, LeBron is a quitter and crunch time flopper, but Wade is the only true great all-around player (which includes leadership, pressure situations and on-court "coaching"). Those tams with Bird, McHale, Ainge, Parrish and DJ were better and so were the Lakers teams with Magic, Kareem, Byron Scott, Bob McAdoo and Worthy. Hell, this year's Celtics are better on paper! And on the court!

No argument from me about those Celtics teams or Lakers teams, but remember, most of those guys were all home grown (i.e. drafted by their respective teams) and not "assembled". On another note, I'm not sure Wade is a "great" player. He sucks without the ball in his hand and was DREADFUL in the playoffs last season. I still think all of those guys are talented but I would be stunned if they got close to winning anything this season. The Celtics are far better. The Lakers are far better, and there are probably another half dozen of teams who are better, based on what I've seen thusfar. The Celtics just better hope that Rondo gets back in there soon. In all the years I've been watching basketball, I've NEVER seen such a dominant player who is so AWFUL when it comes to taking a shot.

Common ground ... fair enough.

I love Rondo, John. At the very least, he has a fixable flaw in his game. LeBron James? You can't teach heart and he was simply born without one. I learned that when I saw the callous way he exited Cleveland. And every year during cruch time in the playoffs.

I hope that you're right about that, but after watching this guy for several years, I'm not so sure. Dude makes Shaq look like Larry Bird from the free throw line. If you watch the Celtics play night after night like I do, you really marvel watching this guy because he completely dominates games and can't hit a shot to save his life. I'm not sure that I can think of a single player in the history of the NBA who I can say that about. If he ever actually does learn how to shoot...look out.

This is a great thread JFB. Screw Miami, screw James, Bosh and Wade. Whatever happened to the "greatest team in sports history" muttered by every clown at ESPN? I seem to recall one douche saying, "the Heat won't lose back to back games all year." LOL, they are the proud owners of a fresh 3 game losing streak, and have to go to Dallas Sunday. How much drool will the announcers have for the "Big Three?" I hate that term with a passion. Last time I checked, basketball was a team of five on the court, and about 4-5 on the bench, not three half hearted, ball hogging, media whoring assholes. None of those three thugs could care less about winning. It's all about "me, me and me."

Imagine how I feel as a lifelong Celtics fan hearing that phrase. That phrase was never uttered until Bird, Parish, and McHale came along. I also hate that the Boston media started using it again to refer to Garnett, Allen, and Pierce. Hell, Rondo is the most important player on that entire team, so I can imagine how he feels when he hears it.

Hey Gatorboy, what are you going to do if this happens?--

Boise St goes down on the road at Nevada. Possibilty
Alabama beats Auburn- possible
LSU goes down against the Razorbacks.- possible.
Stanford beats Washington- probable...

You know what that means, assuming Oregon takes care of Arizona?

We could conceivably have an all PAC 10 Championship game. Oregon v Stanford. This is of course assuming that Stanford would leap over TCU based on tougher schedule. I bet SEC fan would go nuts with anger.

If that happens then hopefully TCU will get it over Stanford. If the nation wanted inter-conference BCS games then the SEC would play themselves every year!

You just can't help yourself can you? A 1 loss Stanford team, with it's lone loss a tough one AT Oregon, with the best QB in the country in Andrew Luck, playing a rematch with Oregon would be HUGE. No one wants to see a good High School team in TCU get destroyed by Oregon. The Country would love to see a Stanford v Oregon rematch.

The Country would love to see a Stanford v Oregon rematch.

not on this side of the country. I give u this, the east coast believes in Oregon but Stanford? No. No respect, no merit.
