Bursting with Pride

Postby Rockindeano » Fri Dec 03, 2010 1:51 am

.....I am so very happy today. Tears of joy are literally streaming down my face at this glorious moment. Why, you ask? Why are you so elated Dean? Let me tell you all why. I turned on the television this morning, and the first words I hear are, "Russia will host the world Cup in 2014." Awesome! I think I tore a ligament jumping up and down for joy. I was so proud that America would NOT be hosting this bullshit. I was so happy to know if that crap was on my TV, it would be on at 315AM and wouldn't interfere with ESPN's regular programming, like, Around the Horn, or PTI. However, the good news didn't stop there. About 15 minutes later, ESPN also announced that Qatar, that 1st world country in the friendly Middle East would be hosting the World Cup after Russia! Is this my lucky day, or what?! I am literally break dancing on the living room floor. This day will go down as one of the best in American sports.

Thank you Jesus!

 I was really confused at first because I was trying to find out who this "Russis" was and why he'd host a world cup! We WILL host another one someday! :)

They hosted games here in Orlando in 1994 at the citrus bowl. It's not that large of a bowl, so I don't get how they did it. And it was summer in Florida! I thought they were nuts!! Too bad my son was only a year old, or I would have somehow tried to see a game :P

Soccer players are barely men....I think the referees should start carrying a new set of cards. And when one of these Nancys goes down like he was shot out of a cannon from being breathed on - the referee should yank out the player's Man Card, and pull it!

Barely men? Sorry, but I watched several games in the last cup. They are pretty hot men if you ask me. I find a soccer type of man WAY more attractive than a football kind of guy. But maybe that's just me

They're wearing 30 lbs of protection because football is a collision sport. Where as soccer is running real fast next to the guy next to you wearing matching short-shorts trying to kick the ball away from him.

The only people wearing 30 lbs of protection at a soccer game are the police clad in riot gear trying to keep the nutcase fans from killing each other!

While this is true of football, there is plenty of collision that goes on in soccer too. They can't tackle, so yes, they don't need the padding that football players do. They need it or they'd all be bigger apes more brain damaged if they didn't! BUT, there are plenty of injuries in soccer, yet they choose not to wear all the protection they could. They do fall and they do break things.

Speaking of the next World Cup, getting awarded the Olympics also has given Brazil a good head start on euthanizing street children and other non-desirables.

at least they dont need 30 lbs of protection and shoulder pads   I can see hockey players wearing protection cause of the ice, but falling on grass can give you a booboo so you have to have all that protection and the helmet too

Exactly! And that's supposed to be a BALL? It's a big easter egg! Oh and you can't kick it on the laces either

Funny story, my 5 year old will KICK a soccer ball when she sees one  but when she was younger she found a football of my son's someone gave him and she brought it to me wrapped in one of her blankets and told me "Shh Mommy.. this is a dinosaur egg and there are 3 baby dinosaurs inside!" She didn't even see it as a BALL!

To compare the physicality of soccer to football is laughable. :) :D

Let's see... Ray Lewis planting a helmet in my chest at full speed. Jean Pierre Flopalot bumping me to the ground. Hmmm.

It's like comparing a head on collision on a highway to that one might experience in a roundabout. There you go...soccer...the "roundabout of sports." They did come from Europe didn't they?
