I don't think it's his mouth. It's someone else's.

For the fans my ass! I know you're too smart to believe that. I can guarantee you that if Billy Sheehan was giving EM the finger in the press every time he turned around, that Deb and others wouldn't be making plans to catch a show in Cali. (I'm jealous, BTW) You don't kick someone in the teeth and then turn around and wonder why they're not coming back for more. Well, maybe you do...

No shit donna. For the fans? This band? LOL, there are but a few bands out there who would do a reunion tour for it's fans, and Journey sure as hell isn't one of them. Those guys work so hard for their fans, that they played and sang to a tape for not one, but TWO tours. They are all about their loyal fans I tell ya.![]()
Why can't you and Chucky come out here for that weekend? Forget the show, who cares about that shit? Come out here to party, and see Stu get a picture of our dicks in his face when he is passed out. LOL, I am counting down the days for that night.![]()
Hey Daniel, did you hear that in addition to Liquid Ass, there is now Barfume? Yep, Barf smelling perfume in a convenient spray bottle.

You and I go through this battle every time it raises its' ugly head. "effect" is past tense where "affect is a current themed adverb.
Examples: When you take a shit with the door open, it affects the air in the house! - I hear that all the time.![]()
When you shit with the door open, it has a prolonged effect on the air quality of the house. See the difference? Where's Michigangirl when you need her?

If it was, he would do whatever he could to effect a reunion, and his mouth - even to this day - is what's keeping that from happening.
Rockindeano wrote:No, YOU"RE wrong. Here is your exact quote:If it was, he would do whatever he could to effect a reunion, and his mouth - even to this day - is what's keeping that from happening.
Had you changed it to, "whatever he could have done to "effect" a reunion" then "effect could have been used. As it stands in your quote, "affect" is the proper usage.
This, is correct:
If it was, he would do whatever he could to affect a reunion, and his mouth - even to this day - is what's keeping that from happening.

Donna is right. It's "effect" in the sentence she used.

They've pigeonholed themselves into the same sort of song they've been writing since 1981 and nothing has changed since, except it's singers. Remove Perry from the equation and it might seem as though they are getting worse, but really, their songwriting has always been pretty paint by numbers. It's Perry that brought the magic.
There are some songs on Relevation that would have been instant classics if they were sung by Perry in 1980-84. Except maybe "What it takes to win". Cain, dude, seriously....when you have to pull out "there's no 'I' in team" as a song lyric, you may be spent.

I guess that's true for a lot of bands from that era. They didn't forget how to write, they just don't know how to evolve as writers to be relevant with the times.
Seven Wishes wrote:"Abysmal? He's the most proactive President since Clinton, and he's bringing much-needed change for the better to a nation that has been tyrannized by the worst President since Hoover."- 7 Wishes on Pres. Obama
Don wrote:Now that I'm looking at what I wrote, was Journey ever relevant as writers? Probably a band that lived off of catchy hooks more than anything else. The lyrics were usually ambiguous compared to the music itself.
Don wrote:Arnel may have given the band a bit of Reprieve with his rag to riches story but you could only count on that for so long. Perry the hermit has waited for his moment and now, magically has all the time in the world when it comes to the resurgence of DSB and he is easily available to promote said song, it seems. He's quite oppurtunistic, never complementing specific members of the band, always making sure that he still has a string connected to anything coming from the back catalog. Sort of genius, really. Herbie might not have put up with it but Irving is the man now and him and Perry appear to be two peas in a pod when it comes to being manipulative so I don't see Azoff ever throwing the gaunlet down and declaring Perry persona non grata in relation to anything the band does.
