Some of us don't. I usually won't spend more than $50-$60 on a purse......same goes for shoes. I'd much rather put the money towards travelling to see kickass rock shows! Purses and shoes wear out, memories last a lifetime. :D

I can't answer your question, I've never understood it. Now, don't get me wrong-I have lots and lots and lots of purses but I like the thrill of the deal...buying illegal knockoffs on the streets of NYC is my idea of a good time and the more I can talk them down the better. I found I was buying purses just for the thrill of the bargaining process. I would never spend more than $30 on any purse, ever!

I don't have a clue! I own 5 purses and never spent more than $40.00 bucks for any of them. I'm way to lazy to keep moving all my stuff from one purse to the other every day.

I don't have any of that crap. If I spend $25 on a purse, that's a lot! I am very low maintainence that way. I'd rather travel!!

I would never spend THAT much on a purse either, but I will say that at least they are better quality than say, a purse from Target, where the zipper WILL break after about 6 months

I don't carry a gigantic purse anyhow, my purses are just big enough to contain my keys, wallet, phone, and lip gloss  The only times I carried anything bigger were when my kids were babies and I needed a bag big enough to carry diapers, wipes, clothes, bottles, etc., etc., etc., etc., you're a dad, you know!

My girlfriend uses this little black wallet looking thing. She hates purses.

I think most purses carry the souls of men.

I found my Coach knapsack on Ebay (you have good taste Babyblue!) and if I could afford it, I would buy retail - not a lot, but a few classic pieces that are timeless. I like the LV too, but not the others - I would buy bags I could actually use. For most women, however, they are status symbols to let other people know how much money they (or their husbands/sugar daddies) can spend on a purse - some are $10K to $20K for Hermes or Chanel. It's like a man buying a Ferrari - it isn't really a well-designed car, but it goes really fast and lets everyone know you are rich enough to drop $300K+ on a car.

Right now I'm using a $19 canvas shoulder bag/satchel by a Canadian company called Mountain Equipment Co-Op, so it's evident I'm not currently high-up on the economic status pole. Since I carry around enough stuff to be MacGyver's sidekick, it's more practical anyway and I don't have to worry about my multi-tool poking a hole in expensive leather.

The high end stuff simply looks better; and a woman that knows how to dress is sexy. I'm talking Prada, Balenciaga and Lanvin, not Ed Hardy or some logo flashing Gucci crap.

You have to have a good body, though. Most of the high end brands simply aren't made for overweight women.
