I recall hearing about the re-records with JSS in spring of '07. At first I thought it was a great idea, but then I soon changed my mind. Just as with Arnel, I believe it's preposterous to think anyone would prefer them to the original. Just another money-making scheme, IMO. Although, with regard to Jeff's "version", I do believe we would've gotten a different take on the originals, as opposed to the copycat edition they put out with Arnel.
I wonder if the Walmart deal didn't lead to Jeff's ousting, at least in part. They sell knockoff music, and it definitely wouldn't be perceived as a knockoff with Jeff. IF the re-records were a condition of the deal, and the WM execs were displeased with Jeff's "version"...

I'm sure it's easier to blame a 'personality' conflict than to say 'we did it for the money'. Just a thought.
Does anyone know if they would've been able to market Revelation with anyone other than Walmart?
Regarding Deen: I never got to know him personally, but I met him a few times at shows, and he was very warm and friendly. I didn't get that feeling from Neal or Jon. I'd like to believe that Deen is a good guy. Let's face it, we can
all be asshats at one time or another!
