Local MR meetup -- an MR milestone!!!

Postby Rip Rokken » Wed Dec 15, 2010 12:19 am

I've been here for over 3 years now, and had yet to meet a single MR person from my own home state in person until this past Saturday. What a cool and very special opportunity it was when Artist4Perry and ComedyIsNotPretty traveled thru town last weekend. No way I was going to pass that up! We got together for lunch, and I kid you not, we stayed there for close to 5 hours. Ginger, looking back I should have asked if you wanted to move to a great local coffee bar, but time just flew.

Anyway, it was really a special time chock full of great conversation, and Ginger and Dan are definitely two of the finest, funnest people I could meet, but I couldn't corrupt her into going ahead and doing a caricature of Gunbot, LOL! Now, the mission is to get them to some shows or bigger meet-ups next year. I vote for Dallas. :)

Thanks again Ginger and Dan for hanging out with us, and for all the great stories. Hope to see you again soon!

Man, I tried to talk our crew up to be fine, upstanding citizens as best I could, but maybe that's like putting lipstick on a pig.

Rip and his family were wonderful! I am afraid we talked his head off! LOL! We talked for so long the Red Lobster crew was hinting for us to leave! LOL! He and his family were quite charming! I wish I were 50 lbs. lighter for the pics but alas, I am what I am! LOL! We had a wonderful time, and would love to meet up for a show sometime! What a beautiful family he has! And his wife was one of the most charming women I have met in a long time. Not to mention his shy little girl! She was so well behaved, and cute!

Dan and I had the time of our lives, thank you Rip for meeting up with us, and for sharing the photos. As I told you! My school team won! :D

Hey, man - someday I do plan on getting to Australia, and I will definitely need someone local to drive me around. I wouldn't think for a second of considering anyone else!

You know, I wasn't paying too much attention to the staff, but come to think of it I guess they did quit filling our glasses after the 2nd hour. And, uhh... A4P is being too modest. She looked great and is only a couple of years older than me. Listen, just coming off Thanksgiving, there was a reason I was wearing a black shirt, and that is no joke.

The God's honest truth is that I was feeling a little self-conscious at the table, because what I really noticed more than anything was the obvious bond between her and Dan. They have a lot in common and share the same passions in life, and it shows, even after several years of marriage. Now I don't mean this to knock my marriage at all -- my wife is a great person and we truly love each other very much, but what you two have is special and rare, and trust me, I'd give anything for us to have what you both have. I'm sure she would, too. :)

Rip you know Dan and I got married in 2002? LOL! We have been married 8 years. I guess we do have a special bond. It is due to the fact we are like the male and female counterpart of the other. We were friends for a long time though. Maybe that is what it is. I think for sure we are kindred spirits. We look at each other and think the same thoughts, blurt out the same weird responses to things no one else would think about, and have a strong love for God and family.

Don't kid yourself, you and Susan are the cutest couple ever! I could see the love between you.

Dan and I are cut from the same cloth. It is A MIGHTY BIG CLOTH. But similar in likes and dislikes. He stunned me 20 years ago with his charm, and is still charming me. Every day gets better than the last.

Hey! I just noticed that you are from Hobart? I used to live in Hobart back in 1985. I stayed there for just under a year. I would have visited you! Dude!

Hey Rip! Had a blast last Saturday! It was really great meeting you and your lovely family... you folks are truly awesome. Its great when you meet people and click right from the start. If you are ever in our neck of the woods, you'll have to drop in on us.
Hey I noticed 4 hints that they were trying to get rid of us: 1) They stopped with the refills. 2) They didn't bring back my change. 3) They sent someone over to ask if we ordered yet. 4) The voodoo dolls they were sticking sharp objects through that looked somewhat like us. LOL
Look forward to spending more time with ya'll in the future and hopefully that will include some shows. ( Like Dallas or Memphis ) You are good people!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whattup, dude! We'll make that happen for sure. For shows, Dallas or Memphis would be perfect, and I betcha if there is any chance we can catch Spamalot passing thru again, that would be a hands-down winner!

Envy!!!!! I wanna meet GingerGirl and Danman in Real Life TM!
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

Dude, you are 7 hours away from us...there will be a small contingent in LA on Januaray 13th in Hollywood. I can tell you this right now...Rip is a great guy and all as is Ginger, but they are the mellow part of the MR community. I think you will find Gunbot, and myself a little more rowdy...we'll be on display at the whisky Go Go for Soto's show.

I've thought about it. But at the moment, until mid February, I'm in the Bay area.

Hmm, 13th January... L.A. ... might need to talk to a few people...

Funny, I'm heading down to LA around that time for NAMM - there should be some good shows around that time.
