Can you make fun of The Third Reich today..? - no...

Iron Sky is an upcoming Finnish science-fiction comedy film from the makers of the Star Wreck series, directed by Timo Vuorensola and produced by Samuli Torssonen as their next project after the success of Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning, produced by five friends in a two-room flat with a small budget and the support of a few hundred fans and dozens of acquaintances.

Police Brutality in Frankfurt

December 16th, 2010 by Timo Vuorensola, Iron Sky director

As some of you have read in the press, a couple of our team members had a bit of an unfortunate end for the Frankfurt shooting trip, and many of you are worried.

So, to keep rumours from running amok, here’s what happened.

Image

Long story short, we were spending the last night in Germany in a small bar after a sushi lunch, chatting about the last 1,5 months in Frankfurt and what to expect for the coming Australian shoot. I left the bar earlier that night, lucky me, since soon after I was gone, the police attacked the bar, dragged some of our crew members out, beat the s**t out of them and then left without an explanation.

Thanks, guys. What the hell?

Here’s what happened: the remaining three troopers of Iron Sky crew (we specifically do not want to reveal their names – so even if you know who we are talking about, please don’t shout their names to the net) were sipping their drinks in the wee hours of morning, when suddenly the door was slammed open, and four or so coppers and police dogs rushed in. They grabbed our team members very damn brutally, and manhandled them out on the street, smashing the Australian guy face first into the concrete. Then they handcuffed him, and started kicking him while he was on the ground. The other guy – a Finn – tried to stop them and find out what was going on, but he was put down on this knees, and when he tried to get up, the last thing he remembers is a police coming at him fast, before he woke up in an ambulance with a headwound.

After the police had more or less kicked everyone’s *ss, they told the guys to go to the ambulance that had appeared in the scene. And then they left.

So, they charged in, beat the s**t out of our guys and left. No charges, no reasons, no explanation. Just random act of violence.

Not surprisingly, we’re pissed off. We had great time in Frankfurt, wonderful shoot and everything, and then a bunch of cops come and ruin the whole thing.

Anyway. We’re all OK now, but it did leave a sour taste for the Frankfurt shoot. We’re figuring out with a German lawyer the ways to proceed in order to get some justice – or at least some kind of an explanation – but given that the cops are most likely not going to admit they did anything wrong, and there was quite a heap of them, it might be quite hard. When there is a problem with the police, there’s always the risk that the incident will get buried. We now hope that the resulting publicity will make the Frankfurt police investigate this incident properly.

German police beat the s**t out of Iron Sky team members; everyone’s OK, but damn p*ssed off.

 - Unphreakinbelievable.

So, that's The Law & Order in Germany Today..?

Are you sure they weren't skinheads in disguise?

That's my guess too.

A precise hit, into a bar with Iron Sky crew, police dogs & everything.

Thrown out, beaten, into an ambulance - and no charges pressed.

The ambulance part is strange.

I've been to those bars - and I've never even heared of such measures taken... on any bar customers...

The Police Incident: Letting Loose the Lawyers

December 17th, 2010 by Timo Vuorensola

All right everybody – thanks for your overwhelming support for us regarding the unfortunate incident we wrote about in the previous blog post. There have been statements and counter statements, and there’s a lot we would like to say about them and about the situation. Because of legal reasons we have to keep quiet – as painful as it is.

In any case, we are now shifting this unfortunate mess to the legal system, where we are reasonably confident it won’t be buried after all this noise.

Meanwhile, we are ourselves shifting back to the real order of business – the Christmas pause and then our next shooting period in Australia.

Again, thank you for your support! We will tell you more as soon as we can.

The Iron Sky team.

I still think it's an intentional hit from people, who DON'T enjoy the idea of making fun about the Third Reich.

What the hell is the movie about? It looks like the ultimate bad-ass Sci Fi film from the promo - but it's a Comedy??

Maybe there are some things left alone in the "too soon" dept.. Something doesn't add up tho. How sizeable is the skinhead population in Germany?

In my opinion - it's a direct hit from those, who feel that it's wrong to make fun about the third reich still being alive.

WHO - is a good question, as the team has experienced nothing but 100% co-opereration.

So, it must be something else.

How official police cars, uniforms & dogs fit in... well, it's strange.... eh..?

You decide.

If the Nazis/Aryans/Skinheads believed they had lineage from the Nordic gods, Scandinavians poking fun at them might be the equivalent of our Western God laughing at Christians.

They filmed quite a lot in the business district: set up traffic signs etc. to make it look like N.Y. ... just like Frankfurt was used in Matrix Reloaded.
