How are our Californians doing tonight?

Hey, just figured I'd see how you are all doing? I've seen the weather reports, and it isn't looking good! Everyone okay from there?

You should start killing your own meat too-it takes a lot of fuel to transport meat across the country...oh wait, killing wild animals is inhumane....hmmm...

Non-stop rain for the last four days, and more on the way.

I hope everyone stays safe and that the rain does not wreak too much havoc, but I very much enjoy this weather during the winter months. And it's certainly more appropriate than, say, a 77-degree and sunny Christmas.

AND at least the temps aren't below freezing. Last night it snowed here....then it rained....then the temps went down to single digits...then it snowed again! I would love this weather if I didn't have to leave the house!

Man, I know you guys are getting hammered. I just worry about landslides every time I hear about flooding there. Hope you all have a safe and fun holiday.

in LA

Postby chynablue » Tue Dec 21, 2010 12:16 pm

...it's wet. And cold. It's bloody wet & cold! We live on a mountain and there's so much water running down the hill. Hooping it tapers off in time for Christmas, so I can drive my kids 1/2 hour into the forest and let them play in what I'm sure will be many feet of snow!

It's been raining for 3 days non-stop. I'm expecting to see animals walking in pairs soon.
The ocean is angry and looks like a muddy pond, but this morning I found strawberries all over the beach! Oh, and a couple of crazy surfers with icy blue faces. LOL...

Nicely overcast, pleasant rainshowers...we don't get enough rain in SoCal, so I'm never one to complain about rain.

Just as long as your house doesn't go sliding down a freakin hill. For all of great things about California, it sure has some messed up things to go along with it. If it's not floods and landslides, it's fires and earthquakes. Makes life interesting, huh?

It's flat where I'm at, and those homes that are sitting on the hills around us...those hills are pretty much all rock.

Safe enough, but I've renamed where I am Cloudyvale. So much for sunny California ;)
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

Are you in Sunnyvale in the southbay. Don't worry, if you are in the southbay, the sun will be out as soon as this crap weather pattern passes through. Now if you were in San Bruno or north, I would tell you to get used to the overcast. Especially this time of year.

With that all said, I do hope you are enjoying your visit. Give us a little update when you have some time. 8)

LAX had a little over 5 inches as of late yesterday. Not sure how much more overnight. Torrance had 3 inches.

Jim, you are waaaaaay behind the times - I even started a thread asking people what I should be sure to go and do during my 3 month holiday in the SF Bay area ;)

Yes, that's where I am. It hasn't been too bad, to be honest - apparently it's been almost as wet at home, with some seriously unseasonal rain. And I've been having a blast - Las Vegas was serious weird, though. Couldn't get over the wedding chapels on every corner, and all the ads for divorce lawyers, not to mention the slot machines and ads for machine guns in the airport.

And yes, I'm liking the area a lot. Sacramento is fun too, the little time I've spent there. Still to hit LA (I've been threatened with Disneyland) and looking at a weekend at Lake Tahoe. Not sure if I'm ready to move here, but time and the heart will tell.
