Just bought a new Peter Cetera Christmas album...

Postby G.I.Jim » Sat Dec 25, 2010 2:13 pm

For you are true Peter Cetera fans, you need to go to I-Tunes and download his new "Gotta Love Christmas" album! It has 5 or 6 amazing songs on it, and if you're a true fan, you'll love it! :D I just bought it and a few Michael Bolton and Kenny Loggins Christmas songs. Hope you like them! :D

While I like Cetera's range, man, his music is just so white I can't stand it. With Chicago (early stuff) at least that was good, but from the 80s on, terrible.
Funny, while I was typing this, we had xmas tunes on and Cetera's Let it Snow Came on. Decent arrangement, but again, SO white.... blech.
He and Kenny G should tour.

the arrangement of the one I heard was okay, but his voice is just ... I dunno, just doesn't hold my interest.

Nah, it really isn't. "White" to me translates to Pat Boone or Kenny G. BORING, without soul, without interest, without conviction.
Just sounds like Produce Department Music or PDM to me. Sorry.
As another example, Perry's white but has a ton of soul in his delivery.

As for Kanye, can't get past him to even get to his music.

Cetera did a small tour for his last Xmas album. He played at a Borders in Chicago and then signed stuff afterwards. In my opinion, he's got a lot of great songs: One Good Woman, Restless Heart and don't slap me, but Glory of Love.

His voice is OK but it sounds too nasal to be considered a great singing voice.

You know that's exactly the same thing most people would say about early Steve Perry, too nasal. To me Peter Cetera has to be one of the most, if not the most recognisable voice from the 80's.

With all due respect , but the most recognizable voice of the 80's was hands down Michael Jackson !
