A question for "the Loons" amongst us

Hi, Many times we read or see on TV a touching story about families re-united, or adopted kids meeting biological parents for the first time.
I have wondered what is the story about Steve meeting Shamila? Did he know of her for all those years, or was she a complete surprise to him? He seems overjoyed to have a daughter, and grandkids in his life, and I am so happy for him.( since he was an only child).
Does anyone know the story of how they got together? It must be a wonderful one, and he deserves all the happiness in the world, mainly because he gave us so much happiness with his beautiful voice!

Tbear, the only thing I know,which may or may not be true, is that it is rumored that he didn't even know about her until she was 13 or 14. Other that that getting out, Shamila and her Mother are a very well kept secret!!! I can tell you this with all honesty, that I live an hour from where she lives and actualy ran into her by accident last Nov in a Pet Smart of all places!! We talked for around 15 minutes I think, mostly about our animals. I didn't let her know I was a fan, I know for a fact she does not like his fans. She looks just like her "Monster" pics and is very pretty. She also was very nice to talk to. I'm sure Steve is very proud of her and his Grandsons as he should be!!

I don't think it's fair to imply that she 'hates his fans' just because she rejects people on FB that she doesn't know. I know lots of people who only have family or close friends on their FB page. She's probably doing it for her family's safety, which is totally understandable.

Hmm, lemme see... everytime you go out anywhere in public with your father, total strangers interupt to ask for autographs, sneak pictures, maybe of your kids too. Total strangers try to dig up every aspect of your life, not because of anything you did, but because of who your dad is. Maybe one 'friendship' too many turned out to be shallow and false, because what they wanted was to get close to fame.

I'd say any one of those is a pretty good reason for the children of famous people not to like their parent's fans.

Tbear, I think the point was, regardless of the woman being friendly... recognizing who she was and speaking to her only because of that fact is strange. And the Facebook stuff... wow... you'd have to know certain things about a person to even find them on fb... like their last name, city, etc. Which makes it seem like people out there are actually digging up info on this lady. So yeah, I'd be creeped out by fans like that too if I were her. You have to put yourself in that place... would you want people doing that to you?

Exactly. The other thing is that just because you happen across info on someone or their family, like names or locations or anything else doesn't mean you should be using it. whether you go looking for it yourself or someone tells it to you... I mean, I have found things out about people or met them or "know someone who knows someone..." most people have at least one case of that, knowing a guy who knows a guy.... or running into someone... but you'd never in a million years see me telling about it here or where ever ... ran into a famous dude about a month ago at work... I mentioned it privately on fb, to my friends... lke hey I just saw so and so... that was it. And that one wasn't even anything that would be secret or sensitive info since that guys tour info is all over his website.... If he'd been traveling privately, I never would have mentioned it even on my private fb. You just don't do that.
