I snagged that show off of another forum, can't remember which one, but I lost it when my backup hard drive failed.. I never figured out which forum it was, where I got it, and didn't look for it too hard, but I'll bet it's still out there somewhere.

I'm not sure what others use to make their videos, but I used Nero's Vision program with it set to Highest Quality, and it came out pretty good. Very big files to upload though, so it took a lot of time.

I was lucky enough to see Jason in late 95/early 96 a couple of years before Journey got rolling again with SA. The dude was was REALLY good and sounded just like Perry did from 78-80 on the good stuff before Rolie split. His band during that period was tight as well. You really couldn't tell if you were listening to Captured or not at the show I seen. Listen to Jason at the 1:18 mark on that barber shop clip. The dude naturally has THE voice. How Fro missed Jason during the rounds 1,2 and 3 of trolling for a new singer is amazing to me. But then again, no one has accused Fro of being the sharpest tool in the shed either. Kelty is good, really good.

Sucks that these recordings have the drums bouncing off of a wall in the room making the timing seem off. The drums are reaching the mic later than the rest of the mix.

I know Jason has soundboard recordings of Escape shows from their prime. Why he wont upload them is anyone guess. Anyone ask him ? Last time I spoke with him was before he started singing secular music again and he had no intention of releasing that stuff. Maybe he feels differing now. Anyone in touch with him ?

He can certainly cover Perry, but I'd be MUCH more interested in hearing what his style is on original material. There is a big difference in Perry and finding the closest person out there to sound like Perry. It's not the same.

Finding a lead singer is more than finding a soundalike. You have to get to a certain benchmark that is "close enough", but doing the songs justice is much higher on the list than Perry-cloneability.

Not as impressed with Jason live (on the escape live tracks) as everyone else is. Voice doesn't sound that great to me. Actually, he sounds like a mix of Soto with Perry isms. Which certainly isn't bad...but not the Arnel beater some of you would think he is.

Sorry, Seen him live many times. Arnel cant even think about touching him. Forget that he tries to sing like Perry for a moment and consider this. He often did live ad-libs that were his own and they kicked ass. Very musical, right place right time and crystal clear mega power. Arnel has lots of power but very little nuance and zero dynamics. Arnel is belting or whispering. Little grey area there. Good emotional delivery but again, Kelty kicks his ass in every way especially in emotional deliver. Jason didnt copy that from perry. You can copy tone but you cant fake emotion Kelty felt the songs as if they were his own. Again, this cant be faked. You would have had to seen them live. I am pro musician and was floored by EVERY member of the 94 line up escape.

I have said it before. If they played the same night as the real thing I would go see escape unless Perry was there. Why ? Simple. They sounded more like Journey than Journey and I want to hear me some Rollie Era Journey all da time. Yes it was a tribute act but what you saw was more than than that. These guys had chemistry especially Jason and Scott Psota the guitar player. He nailed it as good as Jason in every way. IF they has set their minds to write and been able to do it I can only image what they could have written.

That's awesome news Rick!!! Thanks! I think his vocals on Faithfully are the best I've ever heard besides Perry. He is hands down the closest, best tribute to Perry on the planet. I WILL get to one of their shows if it's feasible.

He's a very good singer, but I think 40'ish Arnel sounds better than 40'ish Jason. If you listen to Kelty`s "Don`t stop believin" which I assume is a studio recording and you compare it to Pineda`s Revelation studio version you hear Kelty has to work real hard for those high notes,Pineda`s higher notes on those parts sound more effortless and pristine but obviously Kelty is an excellent singer who sounds great on those Journey songs and his voice has a resemblance to Steve Perry`s voice.
So no Pineda beater for me but I would enjoy seeing and hearing Kelty singing live!
