Um, yes it is!

Dopey argument. I'm quite confident that if Canada had two MLB teams who played each other or two NBA teams who played each other, they wouldn't be playing the American National Anthem as a homage to the U.S., even those are both our sports!
StevePerryHair wrote: I can't believe the protest over Canada. They are our friends ;)

I'm really not "protesting" at all. I simply thought those dopes in Pittsburgh forgot where they were. Aside from the incredibly fucking annoying "eh" that Canadians interject into every sentence every 8 seconds, they're fine people and I've yet to meet one who I didn't like.
It's a season game, but it's not in their freaking arenas. They picked them for the classic and that makes it a special game. I think it's cool Pittsburgh did that. I don't get the big deal.

What the hell does you going to a Penguins/Lightning game have to do with the Canadian National Anthem being sung at a game in Pittsburgh between two American teams?

StevePerryHair wrote:All I see is a bunch of football jocks looking for a reason to dis hockey.

Another jackass comment! I've been a hockey fan since I was knee-high to a grasshopper and grew up playing the game. I promise you that playing "pond hockey" is every bit as common in the Boston area is every bit as common as any part of Canada!

StevePerryHair wrote:There is nothing wrong with them using the Canadian anthem for this SPECIAL game. I am sure there is tradition behind it.

Tradition? You do know that this game has only been played twice, right? I LOVE "The Winter Classic" and think there is nothing better than outdoor hockey, but let's not make it sound like this game has a 50 year history of "tradition" behind it when it's all of 20 minutes old!

They ALWAYS play both anthems in Buffalo , regardless of who the Sabres are playing. ;)

I'm well aware of where the Lightning rank in the standings. It doesn't change the fact that Florida is an abortion of a state when it comes to sports fans, outside of college football. Most clueless fuckers in the nation, when it comes to being fans.

Pretty sure I already said that. Obviously, I mentioned that Canadian National Anthem being played in Buffalo. I didn't think I had to spell out the fact that the American National Anthem was also played in an American City. The Bruins have been in the same division as Buffalo as long as Buffalo has been an NHL team, so I'm well aware of what goes on in their arena!

Tradition starts somewhere. And using the anthem for a special game is a good tradition i think. Thats my opinion. Its respectful. And do you even read what you post? You made it sound like living in FL I have no clue about hockey or attending an NHL game. If you know so much about hockey then why the dumbass comments about FL hockey?

Well there. NOW I get it. It's a "south" thing...and a "Florida" thing. I'm so shocked you'd say this  The Bucs have had good years too. Though I am a Steelers fan. Boston fans are some of the worst when it comes to sportsmanship and some of the RUDEST for the Bucs fans to deal with. Mainly because they have piss poor attitudes like you. :)

Just because Tampa has a reasonable hockey team doesn't make them a hockey hotbed. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile. When it comes to professional sports, Florida is a fucking abomination when it comes to their fans. That's my opinion, and it will never change. Too many transient people who have zero connection to where they live, beyond the sun and warm temperatures. I've met more native Floridians outside of Florida than I ever met in Florida. In spite of your assertion that my comments are "dumbass", I never said anything regarding your beloved Tampa Bay Lightning. I simply said Florida blows when it comes to supporting their teams, and the attendance proves it. Hell, the Rays couldn't fill half their freakin' (complete horror show) of a "stadium", even when they had a VERY competitive team over the past couple of years.

Right, and they probably still have the worse win/loss record in the history of the NFL! Hell, I think the Lions probably have a higher winning percentage.

My beloved team is the Pittsburgh Penguins, not TB. But I respect that we have a team here and when my team lost, I was still happy for TB. yes, there are a lot of "transplants" not transients  You make us sound like a bunch of homeless people  I've lived here 20 years, but I'm still a northerner at heart. And they DO support their teams. You have no clue. You don't think the Bucs and Dolphins have support from their fans? And I know plenty of native floridians here. Many are close friends. But I guess you were going by people you meet at Disney world?

So it's Pittsburgh's fault that the NHL wanted to recognize Canada for their contribution to the entire landscape of the game? Obviously it was set-up by the NHL for respect of the originator of the game coming from Canada because there was a huge Canadian flag in the stands, along with the American flag. It's nothing but respect for Canadians since it is their bread and butter, being shown Nationally on New Years day. It's not as hard or big of a deal to really understand.

Well you must have been in some tourist area here in Florida to decide there are more "transients" than natives. Florida is a big state and that was a pretty dumb statement. Just because you lived somewhere in the south and think southerners are stupid doesn't mean you know this state.

Listen Big Mouth...I never fucking claimed to "know" your fucking state! I made a general comment about sports fans in Florida and stand by that comment. You can certainly disagree but that doesn't change my opinion one iota! Also, I never brought up "the south", once, so shut your fucking pie hole! I also never claimed that Southerners were "stupid". If you want to criticize me, at least get your fucking facts straight and know what the hell you're talking about! One other point, even most people who live in "the south" don't consider Florida "the south", in spite of its geographic location.

I'm pretty sure they were in the south when it came to the civil war... I'm sorry, but I thought you lived in one of the carolinas and cut down the south every chance you got? Was that another poster? If so, I apologize. I thought it was you. And YOU claimed that you've met more native Floridians outside of Florida than you have in our state. Again, I was reacting to YOUR statement. I was just trying to figure out where you get your facts about our state to make such harsh statements.
