Funny. I've never said any such thing about myself, nor intimated thereto. Not once. Yet the intimation here is that I did. Hmmm. Well, apparently, tonight is pin-the-tail on the Democrat, so bring it on, you slack-jawed, sheet-wearing, gun-toting, out-of-school-dropping, Palin-worshipping, Faux News ball-lickers.

It seems you are implying that a gun's only purpose is to harm/kill people. That's not true. In case you're not aware, guns are also used for hunting. Most people that own guns are responsible gun owners. My family has had guns in the house my whole life. We were always taught gun safety from the time we were very young. Sure, there are going to be people that aren't responsible but that is on them, why restrict the rights of everyone because of a few irresponsible people? I agree that guns are a little too easy to come by and there probably should be stricter regulations but I don't think taking guns out of everyone's hands is the answer either.

Oh, you wanted a response, well here it is.

Taking guns out of everyone's hands would be akin to banning all air travel, now wouldn't it...I'd much rather be subjected to a stricter search and still be able to fly than to have to have air travel banned.

There, was that better?

Well....Since Giffords was a supporter of the health care bill, that assumtion isn't too far off. I just read that some right wing nut job threatened Nancy Pelosi too for the same thing.

Nut jobs come in all political leanings. People associated with the tea party=me, my sister, half my town. None of us assassins. Please.  I can see some left winger trying to silence any opposition by trying to blame folks who disagree with the present day politics. I thought we have a right to an opposing opinion. That guy was just nuts.

I hope the congress woman will pull out of this. Politics aside, she does not deserve to be harmed in any way, for any reason. My heart goes out to the other families of the victims as well. What an awful event!

I believe if you align violence with how well the economy is doing, you will find that that violence goes up when economic conditions go down. It's a natural thing that when people feel prosperous, they do not feel the need to commit crime.

You don't remember this one?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_Color ... _shootings

The 2007 Colorado YWAM and New Life shootings occurred on December 9, 2007, when Matthew J. Murray attacked the Youth With A Mission training center in Arvada, Colorado, and New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado. These attacks caused two fatalities in each location. The second attack was stopped when Murray was wounded by Jeanne Assam, a church member and volunteer security guard. Murray then took his own life.

The main point in this whole story, other than innocent people are dead, is that we don't know if this guy had a particular political philosophy and, in the end, it doesn't matter anyway. He had "Mein Kampf" and "The Communist Manifesto" amongst his recommended reading. We do know that he hated the Tea Party. The fact that the Tea Party, Sarah Palin, etc., is being blamed in any way for this is downright shameful.

Exactly, and there are people who own them in the name of self defense against the criminals who use them ONLY FOR the purpose to harm and kill. They should not have to give up that right simply because people just don't like what guns are made for.

The FACT is this guy is a NUTCASE and this IS an isolated incident. With how many crazy people there are in this world, it's more surprising that something like this doesn't happen MORE often. And if someone had been there that happened to carry a concealed weapon for protection, that person could have taken this nutcase out before he shot as many as he did. If God forbid I or anyone I love ever happened to be in a situation like this, I would WANT there to be someone there carrying a concealed weapon who COULD do just that.

In your fantasy world that would have worked out perfectly !

If we all should carry guns and draw a gun as soon as we hear a gun shot in a grocery store or a school, can you imagine how many people will get killed or hurt if one bullet goes off?
We're talkin about making decisions and aiming perfectly in split seconds. While your "hero" would pull his gun to shoot the actual suspect, 10 other people who would happen to see your "hero" with a gun pulled (not knowing that he is the good guy and thinkin HE started it) , would start shooting at him and eventually at eachother... Results : Wild Wild West !

I don't live in any fantasy world  I live in the REAL world where unfortunately I don't find out about crime only from the cutesy little nightly news like people who DO live in the fantasy world of "Oh crime isn't that bad"  Yeah keep telling yourself that, and good luck verbally pleading with some criminal if heaven forbid one or several ever happened to come after your family.

I love how you blanket stuff  Did I say we should ALL carry guns? NO  So your wild west thing there, while slightly funny, is pointless  I SAID people who do choose to own them for self defense should not have to give them up because others just don't like what they're made for.

Oh so you defend people's rights to carry a gun, yet you personally choose not to carry one, when you can ? if its such a good law and youre such a good samaritan, why not carry a gun ? ;)
and the law that you support, ALLOWS people to carry guns, yet nobody in that grocery store had the guts to pull the gun to take the bad guy down.
You see, you do live in a fantasy world. The reality that there IS more crime right now, WITH current gun laws is clear. We have tried your laws for years.
And we still have people gettin shot in schools and grocery stores BECAUSE of the same laws you support.
Name ONE incident of mass shootings when your "hero" decided to pull the gun and take out the bad guy. ZERO! Real heros are those who jumped the guy, risking their lives and took him down WITHOUT any weapons.
If anyone is blanketting stuff, its you , you beleive that our current gun laws allow for less crime. But you have no clue about how gun control and laws in other countries work and save lives.

What else you got, Mrs FF ?

Here's a little story:

My mom bought my dad a new hunting/varmint rifle for Christmas. I went with her when she bought it at WalMart and I couldn't believe how easy it was to buy that gun (disturbingly easy if you ask me)! We were there a half hour at the most and they did the background check over the phone!!! What's worse is the fact that it was only a 5 minute phone call. No gun purchase should ever be that easy.

Perhaps it is too easy to purchase a gun ...I watched the Craigslist Killer the other night and he (Phillip Markoff) bought a gun
with a fake ID, just like that ...it was scary!!
I support the right to keep & bear arms, yet do not personally own and carry a gun ...there's nothing weird about that!!
I also agree that, perhaps, we need stricter laws!!!

No shit, Sherlock! And it seems to be YOU that has the reading comprehension challenge since I said you are "implying" I never said that you SAID they were only used to kill/harm people.

So, are you a vegetarian? Do you believe it's wrong to kill animals too?? Just wondering cuz it seems I've seen you post some pics of some very tasty looking steaks here and on FB. So I'm having a hard time understanding exactly where you stand on this issue. Should people be able to have guns used to hunt or not???

I knew you would get this off track to the whole palin shooting killing hunting thread.
I never said it was right or wrong to kill animals or people for that matter ! Some people need to be shot ( yep youre one of them)..... I made a very clear and simple statement that GUNS are made to kill as opposed to CARS. get it, got it , good !

B I'm off and at breakfast with Bully, lol, but here's the thing. I understand
with where you grew up WHY you have the mentality you do. My point
is the same as I pointed out earlier... you just can't undo what's
already been done. So therefore why should people who own them
for their own self defense have to give them up when you will
NEVER get the criminals to give THEIRS up?

Simple question..

It isnt something that can happen over night. it will take years and even then you can not completely get rid of all guns and even crime it self. But We have to start somewhere. We cant just give up and say it is too late. What kind of message does that send to the criminals ?
None of these crazy shooters think and plan their move based on how many other civilians in the crowd MIGHT carry a gun in self defense.

When it comes to your average criminals, they usually dont usually know if their "victim" is carrying a gun. And chances of getting shot by a criminal are even higher if you pull out your gun in self defense. At the same time that it makes them nervous it makes them pull the trigger faster.

I never said it was right or wrong to kill animals or people for that matter ! Some people need to be shot ( yep youre one of them)..... I made a very clear and simple statement that GUNS are made to kill as opposed to CARS. get it, got it , good !

What I get is that you are as dense as they come if you can't understand that mentally unstable people that wish to cause harm and/or do mass destruction will find a way to do so with or without guns.

The charts you put up are really cute, but show me the evidence that it is actually gun control regulations that makes the difference and not some other variable.
