CNN reporting that Dems AND Pubs are trying to erect a 300 foot safety zone against these despicable assholes..The Governor is going to sign the order in 5 hours. To CNN's credit, the reporter did NOT mention the "group." I like that .

Yes, there IS a connection between thinly veiled references to gun violence and an increase in threats against those whose ideals and platforms run in stark contrast to the receptor of those messages. Is Palin herself to blame? Of course not. However, her rhetoric - and in some cases clearly identifiable language (as in "taking up arms" against Democrats) - is toxic, and has contributed to more of the maelstrom of angry political debate in the past few years than any other politician in America.

If it is true then it is true for all. Democratic ads have used pictures of bullseyes and terms like "target" and "punish our enemies" when talking about political campaigns as well. Any intelligent (and SANE) person knows that these are just analogies. Should we ban the phrase "break a leg" when wishing folks luck in a performance because it's a reference to something harmful? Of course not! And let's not forget all the horrible rhetoric that was said about George W Bush and Dick Cheney. I also seem to recall a mannequin hanging from a noose that depicted Sarah Palin. As Michael Jackson suggested, perhaps we should all start with the man in the mirror...

I wish those in the media who are lambasting Sarah Palin would realize that they are in fact causing more harm than anything, and potentially inciting someone to act out against her. There is NO factual evidence that leads us to know that this wackjob did anything based on SP's map/rhetoric, however it is conceivable - given the tragedy of the events of last weekend - that someone (another wackjob) would want to exact revenge on her or her family.

The hypocrisy of it all is just infuriating.

I have to say, I am not a big fan of Palin. But my lord, anyone that thinks her or anyone else on tv is responsible is just plain dumb, in my opinion. I mean, come on. A week or so ago I wrote on here that I thought all the negativity was dividing us far more than I think is healthy. But to the point of not talking to each other, not being able to be friends, etc.

When it comes to Palin, I really have not heard anything out of her mouth any better or worse than other current politicians. She doesn't strike me as violent or odd in that way. In fact, the angriest people I know are on the left, which embarrases me. Olberman, michael Moore, etc. Michelle Malkin (sp) had an interesting rundown on her site of all the hate from the left. And I am sure someone has a similar list for the right.

Recently, there have been calls from the left for revolution and violence. This concerns me. Not a good way to get a point across. I have never heard those calls from top conservative people. Fringe and extremists, yes, but not talking heads.

The hypocrisy in the media is pushing me away from my own views. And others I know are becoming more extreme, away from me. Not in a violent way, but in a pissed off - stop talking to me way. Sad. Palin's name should have never even been mentioned in any of this. It is just ridiculous. I'm tired of seeing her just like the next guy is, but I am sure she is a decent person who simply has a different belief system.

Remember, if Palin is an idiot because she does not agree with you, then you must be an idiot if you do not agree with her. But really, the truth is that you just simply believe in different things.

This is not right either. Your posts normally don't bother me because they are usually cut and pastes of articles that support your belief. But to act as if there are no good liberal ideas is not healthy. I think people should fight like he'll when they disagree with something, but we have gotten to the point where we fight about things just because someone is labeled one side or the other. We are losing middle ground and I don't see how this country progresses without middle ground.
