LOL! Yeah, he was asked to RESPOND to what Limbaugh said...so, of course he is going to be specific in that case. Even then, he said, "people like Limbaugh," and generalized the statement...and did NOT mention any specific party - as you said above.

Besides, you said "a couple days ago"...and that puts it back to his original comments.

Where did he blame this on the Republican party....which, I assume, is who you are talking about.

When he said one party is blocking the other from improving this country, and he is known as a strong Democrat, um, it doesn't take a genius.

In any case, none of the hatred on the right or the left had anything to do with this, so it's flat out wring to bring it up at a time when I'm sure the country would like to stand together.

I said this the other day before this happened. I said that when one side blames the other, they are forced to defend and that action puts us farther apart. So instead of having a discussion about the value of all our lives, we are having a discussion about left and right. See my point?

Since the (former) working people of this country are no longer contributing to 401Ks and the Wall Street gambling fund they don't matter any more.

As for the "unriched" rethugs, they're all waiting for that mansion in the land of milk and honey just over the hilltop where streets are paved with purest gold. It's gonna be a crowded motherark.

For you. Please justify this in your perfect worldly view:

Someone please find a similar list on the right and let's talk about the hypocrisy of both sides.

Wow. Nice find. I'm eagerly waiting for any of you resident libs to look at this and dare lecure anyone on the right for hate speech from the right.

If you were honest with yourself and this forum, you would admit that Limbagh and Beck do this stuff on a NIGHTLY basis...and have so much support from Republicans that they could run for office and possibly win. THAT is the real difference. Republicans/conservatives take them seriously while most Democrats/liberals don't give a crap about the insane stuff on their side...which is why they do not pull in ratings - nobody listens/watches.

Palin is out to make a living selling books, staying in the news, and prop up her popularity, party, and Presidential hopes.

Olberman and Maddow are a lame attempt at a response to FOX...and they are not any further in the 'right' when they go on the attack....and, who REALLY cares what they say?

Maher has constantly said that he is no more a fan of Democrats then he is of Republicans...just that their special interests scare him a lot less. However, the Republicans have gone so completely loopy that last few years, that he has had a lot of opportunities to rail against them....the hypocrisy of McCain is a great example.

Michael Moore is a film maker....not a radio or TV commentator. So, no comparison really. What happened to the Tea Partier making the film about Obama? It's not like there are no conservatives doing the same. South Park was even considered 'conservative' a number of years ago.

Lists like this are meaningless, in the end. It's just more propaganda for one side to get all excited about. None of what is done there is 'good'. But, neither is bringing weapons to campaign rallies, and making Obama Hitler signs....it's really no different, IMO.

I don't look at any side different than the other. I funk Beck is out there and for what ever reason he has tapped into something. I don't ever listen to him, so I can't really comment. You say the right is way out there, but the most hateful things I have ever heard in the last ten years have come from the left. It disappoints me. And the hitler thing, first time I ever heard that in this way was Springsteen calling Bush that name 6 or 7 years ago and it was on many leftists signs. I hated that we went that direction. The right is no worse today than the left was in response to the 2000 election and GW.

Anyway, over 300 pages of this thread convince me it isn't going to improve. So...

I don't watch or listen to Beck. But show me where Rush showed decapitated democrats? Firearms pointed to the heads of liberals. Show me anything Rush has done anything that's on this long list!

I don't remember exactly what he said, but I was listening to Chris Matthews on my way home from work today, and I'm pretty sure he called out those guys (and those on the right) by name. He also said that he was a supporter of Gabby and maybe even worked on her campaign. I can understand his emotion in that vein, but he shouldn't try to come across as a "public" servant and then act in a partisan way. JMO.

From http://www.politicalchips.org/profiles/blogs/dismantling-sheriff-dupniks?xg_source=activity

We see one party, trying to block the attempts of another party to make this a better country.

Found the site using google search. Seems to be commentary on an interview. I did not read the whole thing.

It is the liberal half of me that wants the left to stop because I think it makes them look very opportunistic and trying to use a tragedy to score political points. Hate it.

Complete and utter bullshit.

Faux "News" and their ilk, along with the assassination-like Republican political campaigns of the past 30 years, generate more than 90% of the hateful, angry, and ultimately dangerous rhetoric.

Sorry, you're DEAD FUCKING WRONG on this one.

Seriously, find me ANYTHING from a mainstream leftist radio or TV station or program, or ANYTHING said by a Democrat running for the House or Senate that compares with what the GOP has been up to, especially since Obama declared his candidacy. ONE FUCKING THING. I'm not talking about the blogosphere. I''m talking about MSNBC, mainstream radio, or national-level politicians. FIND IT. Please.

There is NO left-wing equivalent of Faux News. In no way, shape, or form, does Olbermann at his worst come anywhere near to Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter, O'Reilly, Kax, and Palin at their collective best.

From the New York Times:

During the culture wars of the 1990s, fought over issues such as gun rights and abortion, right-wing extremists killed 168 people in Oklahoma City, terrorised hundreds in an Atlanta park and at abortion clinics in the South.

Consider the comments of Sharron Angle, the Tea Party favourite who ran for the Senate in Nevada last year. She talked about ''domestic enemies'' in the Congress and said, ''I hope we're not getting to second amendment remedies'' (a reference to the constitutional right to bear arms).

Then there's Rick Barber, a Republican loser in an Alabama congressional race, but not before airing an ad in which someone dressed as George Washington listens to an attack on the Obama agenda and proclaims, ''Gather your armies''.

I've got hundreds and hundreds of other links, references, and articles.

Care to compare the worst of Al Franken and Olbermann to, say, the worst of Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter, O'Reilly, Kax, and Palin?

“This administration...they model themselves...after Al Capone. You take these guys on, and they will bash your brains out. That’s what they did to Fox, that’s what they’ve done to the Chamber of Commerce. That’s what they do to everyone who stands in their way. So, you have to ask yourself, as Sean Connery did, what are you prepared to do. If you’re going to get into a fight with these guys, you better be able to battle all the way to the end."

And then you can say, ‘Which one’s gonna get whacked?’ You can sit there and you can live in fear or you can stand up and say, ‘Enough of your bat.’ I warn ya. That means that some people are gonna get whacked.’”

Rush Limbaugh: "I tell people don't kill all the liberals. Leave enough so we can have two on every campus--living fossils--so we we'll never forget what these people stood for."

Bill O'Reilly: "Americans who work against our military once the [Iraq] war is underway will be considered Enemies of the State by me. Just fair warning to you, Barbara Streisand, and others who see the world as you do. I don't want to demonize anyone, but anyone who hurts this country in a time like this, well, let's just say you will be dealt with."

G . Gorden Liddy (broadcasting advice on how to kill law enforcement officers): "...head-shots, they are wearing body armor, head shots... or shoot for the groin."

I'm simply stating my experience. I've never even actually heard a violent word from Palin. Not one. And I don't listen to Beck. I agree that it is BOTH SIDES - read my threads. I am not saying the right does not partake in this silly war of words. But for the left to act as if it is the right that is so "violent" or the right saying the same is a joke. Look at your quote from Bill O'Reilly. That is tame in the scheme of things. I've never heard him say anything violent either.

When I talk about hatred, I am speaking more to this whole idea that everyone on the other side is an idiot. The left tends to be more angry in that sense. I'm not talking death threats. But please do check out http://michellemalkin.com/ as noted above for all of that stuff.

The difference between you and me is that you have become so loyal to one side and so blinded by that loyalty that you can no longer see with reason the faults of your own party.

If we had it my way, there would be no parties, only individual issues to work with. We are too fucking divided and it's sad that many of you contribute to that.

I'm not talking about the blogosphere or ACLU whack jobs or anything of the sort.

I'm talking about mainstream media and politicians.

There is NO comparison.

Please find me SOMETHING that compares to the angry and violent vitriol put forth by the Faux News Five and the GOP. You can't because it doesn't exist.

And, BTW...I constantly deride Democrats for their shortcomings, ineptitude, and general failures.

Yes, I am saying that.

He is certainly jaded to the left, but unlike the Faux Five, he uses actual facts instead of made-up statistics and hatemongering.

Big fucking difference. He doesn't lie. Limbaugh and Beck in particular have built their careers around it.

I'm glad you said all of that. It is my point EXACTLY. You BELIEVE in what they are saying so you call it TRUTH. And I assure you that some Beck listener or Limbaugh listener feels the EXACT SAME WAY. But instead of being level headed and realizing that Olberman and Limbaugh BOTH skew facts to their opinion, you instead see one side as righteous and one side as evil. And when you start seeing the other side as evil, you begin to be a part of this divide that is getting worse and worse.

Many have lost the ability to listen with open minds, and when you talk the way you do, demonizing one side and one side only, it adds to the problem. I don;t see packs of lies, I see opinion. I know how Olberman feels, so I take what he says with a grain of salt. He seems to be making a career out of name calling and worrying about Fox too much and I could do without that. Hannity is the same towards MSNBC. No one should every expect to watch either show for a fair and even opinion.

If you point to a Limbaugh lie, I can point to the reason he believes it. Same with Olberman or Maddow.

If we could state opinion and do it in a fair and understanding way, things would be a lot better. But you will not tune in to any of these shows and get just that. The other day Olberman tweeted that fox news was bullshit. He tweeted it twice. How does that help anything? And if your answer is that Fox deserves it because of something someone said, then you must, absolutely must, give that same right and freedom to the other side without complaint.

On the original issue - Palin, Limbaugh and all the others had as much to do with the Arizona tragedy as my dead grandmother did. And it's a disgusting day in America when both sides are slinging mud against the backdrop of such tragedy. The left had no business bringing it up and the right has no business slinging it back. Truly sickening.

Happy Belated Birthday sir. Hope all is well in your world! If I lived in Cali still, we'd discuss over a beer. But alas, I am frozen in MN. I never knew temps could have a negative sign before them. And I didn't realize winter actually comes here every year, not just occasionally.

Well, all I can say to that is you have to look at this country and realize we are split nearly 50/50. And if 50% of the country believes something, we should have some level of respect and understanding. I don't hate people that view taxes or abortion or gay marriage differently than me. These are complex issues when you have 350 million people living under the same roof. Doesn't make them evil.

We have gotten to the point of hatred on the 10% of things we disagree on.

Don't ever call me "champ," you ignorant hatemongering Faux ball-licker. Go fuck yourself.

The implication is clear, and yet you have to make one reasonably well-written or factual post this week.

This may floor you but I agree....some respect is needed here for the OTHER side.

Of course, PolPotFan, you managed to subvert the subject away from the facts I posted and write something irrelevant.

Typical Republican. Weapons of mass distraction. Well, you're not going to get away with it. Address the issue, son!

The only people qualified, incidentally, to call anyone else "champ," would be the exclusive domain of TNC or Gin and Tonic Sky. From you...well, that's like Louie Anderson after he swallowed Meat Loaf telling Amy Winehouse how fat she is. It falls on deaf ears, dipshit. You're not qualified.

He was referring to the Republican posters' treatment of those who don't philosophically agree with them, not the other way around.
